Gaming Computer?

I'm looking for a gaming computer around the price of $500. Anyways I'm not sure what to buy so I wanna no your guys opinions :/. Thanks on behalf. The computer doesn't have to be amazing.

To get anything worth gaming on the PC for $500, you're going to either....

- Have to buy it off ebay or some crap like that

- Build your own

as buying any pre-built computer just won't be worth it.

Well I'm thinking of using some old parts for my old computer. Anyways I saw some decent computers in TigerDirect.

Hey.. I will help you out.

500? I can maybe help you build something, and give you some support also on these forums if you run into any issues!

If you want a c2d then you will need 600-650 bucks. If you want a AMD then you can work with the 500. Intel has had alot more revisions in their chipsets for the c2d era and that increases the bad mobos because they really dont get the chance to mature and revise to perfection.

At the risk of it all, where i use amd because with what i do i dont find the difference noticeable.. <100+ fps.. 10 or so fps isnt going to hurt me.. if its even that> i will try and build you a c2d system for your price range..

I will make another reply for both setups.. one for amd and one for intel.

I'd go with Intel. I had good experience with em.

For $500, to get a decent system, you are first going to have to build it yourself, and you'd be better off with AMD. Intel Core series chips are more powerful, but AMD has the cheap options, and if you're doing a budget system, as you are, you can either get a crap Intel system, or a decent AMD system.
But thats still only if you build it yourself.

Yeah I gotta agree AMD has much more choices, although I had some bad experiences with AMD. Overheating and stuff :/.

.....Can you atleast be specific on what you mean by "gaming computer"?
Posting your old computers specs would be a GREAT help as well. I still run a "relic" computer by most peoples standards.
Anyways, a good video card and 2gigs of RAM is enough to run most of the new games out, besides Crysis/etc.
