Hi guys and gals-long time/first time.
OK, I'm looking for a game to play and I'd really like to play it for months if not years so betas that will be p2p when they release are out for me. b2p if there are any would be ok, but I'm really looking for a good f2p mmorpg. Games I've played and really liked are Eve Online and CoH. Game I kinda like and am playing right now is Rappelz. I don't really care for WoW (just never got into it really, I actually prefer non-wasd movement). What annoys me about each of those games: CoH-basically just the p2p part-very good game IMO. Well, also some overzealous devs but that's hard to avoid. Eve Online-Um, nothing bad about this game IMO. Quit because I became a father and all the meta-gaming and politics invaded RL and I couldn't keep up. Rappelz-WAY too grindy and WAY too little equipment/diversity. There is a best equip for every class at a given level. I want more thought to go into a build and more versatility in equipment. Many of the quests are "kill X number of X guy...." and the mobs are harder to find than to kill. Also, past L40-50 the leveling is a very, very bad grind and for my taste it requires cash shop items to avoid .What's really important for me in a game: 1. Many items/options in character builds. 2. PvE is more important than PvP to me (generally) 3. Some form of guided leveling (like quests, dungeons, missions, etc.) Just killing stuff and hardcore grinding is not all that fun for me. 4. As little pure grinding as can be. When grinding, I'd hope to be in a quest or mission of some sort that veils the grind. Thanks for the help.... What would be nice: 1. Decent/good graphics. I prefer more realism to cartoon/anime style. 2. Secondary jobs/other things to do when you don't just want to level/grind. Good manufacturing or economy system (a throwback to Eve). 3. Stable servers that don't reset several times a day (like Rappelz) 4. Good playability for small parties since I tend to play with my brother. |

its very hard for ex-CoH players to find games they can play long term without eventually going back ( i think the same holds true for WoW players. i wouldnt know though).
but there are some games out there. the problem with many if not all free to play games is that they are grindy. and usually have a few quests to point where you find your self doing very quests per level. but there are games like RF Online and Anarchy that used to be p2p that are free now. And theres also guild wars which isnt a MMORPG (accordingto the dev, which its not if you think about it) and its b2p, only 20 bucks for the first one which is the best one in my opinion, the other ones just make good expansions. so i'd guess you'd like the following games: Guild Wars RF Online Anarchy Online Sword of the New World (havent played yet, but it looks cool, but it could just be a typical f2p) Decide Online (i think this used to be p2p but its f2p now. not sure) Dungeon Runners (its free and its published by NCsoft so that has to mean something...lol) regnum online (prolly has a grind) Twelve Sky (most likely has a grind) But of course you could always put money aside and play CoH/V lol. like if you smoke or drink you can cut back and use that money on CoH, cause you'd be spending it anyway. guild wars is made for pvp, but it has a good pve aspect too. i dont like pvp at all and i still enjoy it after buying it the first day it came out. it has plenty on PvE and hundred of PvE guilds. If you like the theme of eve maybe you'll like Anarchy. And dungeon Runners has plenty of dungeons, lol. and im sure all of these games have plenty of items and stuff. |

I already have GW, but since it's so highly team-based it's really not for me. I prefer small group (2-5) and solo play since I can't get on all the time and I don't want to let other people down. I do appreciate the suggestions-I'll start getting on those tonight and see if there's something in your list I like. |
