Yes, i could just google this and find some smart ass who says this and that. But it doesnt always seem to fit your spec of what you want. I happen to be a Ranger in the Nightfall edition of guildwars, and i have played one before, just not like this. I am a marksman / beast master to start, but i have no pet yet, I am only level 5. Some noob might answer this by not playing nightfall and say " MONK YOU IDIOT " Yes i know all about the R/Mo area, its good, but in the long run, you dont have enough skill points to fit everything. Trying to handle Beast Mastery, Marksmanship, and Healing Prayers is hard unless you have some uber stacked armor. So unless R/Mo is the way to go in nightfall, then so be it.
And some questions about pets, well, one question. Where can i find a good pet? there are practically none in the early areas around sunspear great hall and champions whatever. The only one ive seen is a god damn flamingo. Anyone know where i can find a real pet?

Play whatever you want for your secondary, I loved playing R/N and grabbing spells like Vampiric Gaze (might be in prophecies, though....
)I used to tame a Warthog, you can find one running around the Plains of Jarin in the sandy area by the Great hall. |

Nightfall pets during the early stages:
Aside from a warthog, you can also tame a crocodile in Istan. When I brought my Tyrian Ranger over to Elona, I tamed a crocodile until I could tame a Hyena. IMO, no need to spec into Healing Prayers, like you said so yourself, it'll be hard to split your attributes into that many lines and still be effective. Also, Tahlkora and Dunkoro are one of your earlier Heroes, right? Leave the monking to them Or go with damage-dealing heroes, then monk henchies. They're usually adequate for the job. Are you also asking about which secondary to go with? When I go R/Mo, it's usually only for the hard rez (Rebirth) and my other skills are on either damage or condition dealing, although the Sunspear Rebirth Signet can do in a pinch. You can go R/W and be a sword/axe/hammer wielding beastmaster. If you also have Factions, go R/Rt for some Splinter Weapon goodness (plus Flesh of My Flesh for a good combat rez). The Paragon has some nice shouts... you can also go as a spear-wielding Beastmaster. The Dervish, iirc, doesn't add much to a beastmaster build -- with Ebon Dust Aura though, you can spread blindness on enemies. Last edited by beldeti; 02-24-2008 at 10:07 AM. |

whats the easiest way to get to any crocs? And i took monk just for a heal that i can use when i either dont have henchies or that i dont trust the player monk to heal me quick enough. Healing breeze always does the trick.

Quote:
Sometimes the monks (henchies or humans) have other more pressing matters to attend to such as healing party members being ganged up on, especially those in the front lines. Rangers are often low-priority for healing as they're usually in the back lines anyway. Put that way, yes, self-sufficiency (through self-heal) is crucial in GW too Consider it your way of reducing pressure from your monk, helping him/her not deplete his energy in healing all of you. |
