Can anyone explain exactly how we have to update? It says use shortcuts on desktop, then when you pick which server to update from theres The Sims Online, Test Server, Test Server 3, then after you update once, it adds EA Land, but then it gives errors. Which thing do we update from, I'm so confused.

TO SET IT UP:

1) Download the .msi file at the EA Land website
2) After that's done use the shortcut (window or not doesn't matter) on your desktop
3) When it comes up SELECT TEST CENTER 3 for the 851.kb patch. The updater will update.
4) When it restarts you have a choice: Patch to EA-Land or Test Center 3. Right now there are a few bugs with this. Sometimes you can't go back and forth between the two. If EA-Land doesn't patch you to download a 1.2gb file, then Test Center 3 will. However it might not work if you want to go hang out in EA Land. For the new launch purposes, try to download the 1.2gb client where you want to go.

The differences between the two:
1) EA Land is limited to FREE TO PLAY PLAYERS ONLY. This is where subscribers go (9.99 a month). They have access to all lots, making huge lots, etc. This is more populated right now than Test Center 3. EA Land however has been EXTREMELY FRIENDLY towards free to play players by making lots that would technically go under "skilling" lots, but name it skilling and put it under a different type of lot so free to play players can access them. =)

2) Test Center 3 is where all new patches go to "test". Test Center 3 allows all players (subscriber + free) to use EVERYTHING. However, Test Center 3 has frequent wipes now and then.

If anyone needs any help, let me know. I'm an avid player in EA Land, and absolutely LOVING IT.

Oh one other thing.

IF YOU'RE GETTING 'CORRUPTED FILE' ERRORS IT IS NOT YOU. WIPING YOUR COMPUTER, REINSTALLING, ETC WILL NOT HELP. THIS IS A KNOWN BUG AND IS IN THE WORKS. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't.

If it is giving you the corrupted crap use Test Center 3. You should get everything, client, updates, etc. with ease. However for now you can only play in Test Center 3. Right now it's being the works, so soon we'll be able to go in and out of both TC3 and EA Land (sometimes you can, but like I said that patching system is a bit buggy).

Its not worth playing...i tried it..its just to get people to pay to play...it really isnt that great.
First you cant gain much...i mean no inventory till you buy the game...you cant own a house...you basically only make the money to chat...and make food for yourself..otherwise its a waste of time..

Every 7 days you earn 500 simoleans by doing nothing. This is something they HAD to implement because they didn't want people making new characters over and over again and then giving their main account money.

Second of all you always have an inventory.

Third, you can get a job right off the bat (you actually perform this job too, it isn't like Sims 1 where you just leave and instantly come back) which is high payout the more you get promoted. Plus it's fun, and you do do the job with other real players, not just NPCs.

Fourth, anyone can own a house. You just need a little bit of money. After the first week you'll get your 500 simoleans. That's enough to buy a decent sized lot w/ basic needs. You can play the whole game homeless too.

SOMEONE DIDN'T DO THEIR RESEARCHING + EXPLORING. =)

Yeah, sort of a blunt statement to make. Question, does the patch usually take awhile, cause mine seems to be stuck.

Is it the 1.2gb one? If it is, then that will take time. And are you downloading from EA Land or Test Center 3?
