Could be a quick internet shortage on your end, and also the server went down recently for a quick update, like within the past hour or two. So that's probably why.
Restart it, sorry!

I've always wanted to try Sims Online, since it was really fun dicking around in Sims (I never really got into Sims 2). Do me a favor and explain to me about these servers. I've heard subscribers, and a test server?

back on topic though, Fieren the EA Land server allows free-to-play members and pay-to-play members; here is directly from their site, it is a bit long but is easier for people who come into the thread. Differences between Free players and subscribers The Sims Online used to require a montly subscription ($9.99). That was the only way to play after a 14 day free trial expired. We changed this, and now one can play forever for free, but with some difference with the subscribers as explained below: The rules are different in EA-Land and in Test Center 3: Because we do not intend to ever enable the 'cash-out' feature in Test Center 3, we are able to let free players experience the full game experience there, as they would if they were playing as subscribers in EA-Land. Limitations to Free Players in EA-Land Lot Sizes When free players buy a lot their house is of lot size zero. While it enables them to build a house, it is a smaller lot than what playing payers get. Earning money Because we intend to let user sell their Simoleans for real money, we cannot have the game give money to free players. But free players can earn money from other players by performing jobs for them (roommate for example), by trading valuable objects like custom content, or even by running a store. Free players can use the buy simoleans feature to get some starting money. Some players might also give you money to help you start. Earning Skills Skills objects only work in 'Skill' lots, and those lots are restricted to free players. Locked skills are maintained for free players. Some lots in the game like residential behave as if you had 'full' skills. Cash-out When cash-out is enabled, Free players will be able to cash-out has much money than they cash-in, but to be able to cash-out more, they will need to be subscribers. Hope that can help a few people. |

Ah, so there is a server open to the entires mass, along with the test server? It'd feel a bit off if the subscribers were given their own exclusive server, since there wouldn't be all that many of them.
Well, time to get this game working. Edit: Oh, it is like that..
