I think both Maplestory (although shouldn't be in this topic) and Runescape have the worse community in all MMORPGs.

Runescape: You are labeled "noob" by anyone, no matter what level. For anything you do you get ranted, and there are tons of people trolling and asking to cyber. You also get spammed by random people, probably the same guy you called back "noob" and made him cry earlier. The age range is probably from 9-18 (sad for those who are over 13 to play this game at all) and they all act like they are on a period. The only time people talk is beg for items/gold (although thx to the worse update taking out fun PvP, it's reduced) and for trade.

Maplestory: You are always tagged "noob" for not wasting your money on NX, and even if you do and not over Level 100, you are still tagged "noob". Little to no people talk at all, they just grind, then flame you.

there are quite a few people that do act..stupidly, but there are also quite a few who dont, and are helpful. for most people if i call you a noob its because you did something stupid or are acting like an idiot. but i rarly use the word.

I think that is probably the least insightful analysis of the community ever.

But the community in RuneScape is actually getting better from what I've seen in limited playing lately. =]

That's all it is, if you get higher combat and after you start playing for a while you develop your own community within a clan and it's actually quite enjoyable. Just bear through it and it gets better after a week or two.

It's not that the community is bad, there's just in general a lot of stress put upon people by themselves and feel it necessary to make the other person look bad.

Not all younger people play this i acturally got like 20 people in my friendlist that older then 30 years old that play this game. And pretty much like every 1 says. After a while of playing you will make some interesting friends on rs and probly spend most of there time in clan chats. If all else fails ask people from this site if they will be your friend. If you be nice to people and comment them on there they usually comment you back as well. No matter your lv people will call you a noob. The higher your lv the less often im lv 122 and people usually follow me around in f2p saying omg a 122 your alsome will you please add me. and most of the time people say nice things to me. though if you kill people in clan wars people call me a nerd and stuff which i report and get them muted for. I normally go to world 75 which usually is a pretty decent world which is usually 1 of the least pouplated worlds normally people are quite in that world and don't bother people.

True i am a member and lot of the mebers are very nice ppl. like the old memebers. but the knew memeber that were free are just plan nubs. they whine that they don't have cools tuff like us. and ask for free all the time!. it's a pain in the ass

A free game marketed towards a younger crowd is bound to not be too terribly appealing to a lot of people, but their marketing works, so I'm guessing financially it makes sense for them.

i was at swamp lizzards and i hopped worlds atleast 10 times tryin to find world were no1 was there, then about 1hr later sum1 logs in an starts tryin to take my traps i ask him if he could hop worlds and he told me to this is his home world

I meet an idiot who thinks I am a noob because I'm on a low combat level account about once a week. Everyone else is really nice, it makes things like fishing almost not boring when you're having a funny conversation.
