Hey guys,
I'm kind of new to the MUD based scene and am finding it rather hard to find a game to get in to. I am looking for a typical medieval type fantasy game based heavily on community. I like the idea of the iron realms games but I would like something with a little more graphics eg. pictures of characters, items, area etc. So does anyone have any suggestions for me? Thanks in advance! |

I would have to say DicingDangers. The comunity is great, the game is fun and it is being updated every day.
www.dicingdangers.com Of course I would say that. I am one of the developers. Give it a try.

Hi Anarki,
One thing that will help you find a game you can enjoy, is to understand that MUDS generally are text based only, though many do have limited graphics often limited to images that can be created using an ASCII set. Browser Based MMORPG's are called PBBG's (Persistent Browser Based Game) and while the name includes MUDS, they are usually seen as different than MUDS because they do contain graphics. Lots of game developers are not even aware of the standard "PBBG" term but a google search for PBBG will still net you some good results. That said, for Medieval you might want to check out Runescape, Fallensword, The Damned Isle, Realms of Loria, or Syrnia. For best graphics out of all those you would enjoy Runescape, but it tends to have a low retention rate (graphics is not nearly as important as content). For something other than Medieval try Pardus.at, it has rich content. All of those games I mentioned are free and/or include fully playable free versions. For links to PBBG's check out my site, the link is in my signature, it also includes links to next-gen PBBG's under development.
