Default Seeking Feedback on a New Browser-Based MMO

Hi guys. I'm working on a new browser-based MMORPG, and I'm looking for people to help me run bugtesting in a pre-alpha sort of way. I basically just want to get a bunch of people in it, and get their reactions to it, find out if there's anything that can be done better, difficulty issues, etc.

I'd love to post a link for you guys, but I read in the rules section that I can't post a link for the purposes of self-promotion. I got the idea then to put the link in my sig, but apparently that's evil and wrong too.

So, I guess, if you want to help me out. Check out my profile. I added the link there. Hope that's not against the rules too.

Ever seen an browser based rpg with a multiplayer mode? I just implemented one in my game. It's rough around the edges, but I'm curious to see what everything thinks of it.

Here's basically how to do it:
1) register if necessary
2) log into the game
3) find a friend who's online as well, get his username
4) click the "group" link in the sidebar and enter his/her name into the invite box
5) wait for the other person to accept
6) once you're in a group, you should see the other person's character's stats in your sidebar
7) after this you both need to go to the same battle area in Naj. If you're in different areas, you'll initiate a single player, and not a multiplayer battle.
8) once you're in the same Naj zone, one of you needs to hit the "Enter Battle" link to initiate the battle for both players.
9) you should now be in a multiplayer, browser-based, RPG battle

Let me know how it goes. I'd like the feedback.

So you have implemented grouping in a PBBG? I'm very interested to see this. Post the url to your game. This is the purpose of this forum, to discuss browser games... it sort of defeats the purpose if you can't reference the game. It will be okay, just contribute to the community.

Or at least message me with the URL.

Thanks! I'm glad you're enjoying it. I don't think I specified any colors for the slimes... General, all-purpose Slimes can be found in the Zenjit Glade. Naj -> Northwestern Continent -> Skraz Peninsula -> Zenjit Glade.

he put it in his signature. nice. and grouping. Genius. i would like to see raids. you could make different flash animations for Wins and Losses in the raids.

EDIT: its REALLY fun. i hate text games. i really do. but this game is an exception. ITS A CONTINENT. the quest isn't just. "go fight someone." its "go get the kids action figure now" and it took me a while to read the text and that there is a swamp. and the battle system is a little confusing. TWO little suggestions.
PUT CHARACTER AVATARS TO UPLOAD.
TAKE DOWN THE "TURNS" nobody wants to wait. that makes people quit games.

Wow, chantzperson. First of all, thank you very much for adding the url of my game to your sig! I very much appreciate that.

As per avatars, that'd be cool. My original idea was to get an artist to draw different avatars eventually. But, I think avatar upload might be cooler. You'd literally have complete control over what your character looks like. The biggest problem I can think of is this: what happens if the game gets big enough and people start uploading copyrighted and/or adult material to the game? Perhaps it'd be best to have people choose from a list of pre-made graphics. Discussion please!

About the turns. I love the idea of letting people play as much as they want. I'm a gamer too. As a game, I hate the idea of having to stop working on a quest in say, Kingdom of Loathing, when it's getting really good and having to wait 24 hours for adventures to regenerate. However, I also happen to pay the monthly fee on my chunk of webspace. As the owner of a website, I fear the day when thousands of people will log on to my site and demand its bandwidth 24/7 to fill their addiction. I realize, as an ardent observer of other MMORPGers, that not all gamers have as much self control as I do. In fact, most seem to lack restraint. When I log on to KoL, there are generally about 1k+ ppl in the game. How many would that be if there were no turns/ticks? Again, discussion please!

I see a lot of posts asking about games with no turns/tick limits. As a web developer though, the idea of taking that limiting factor away scares me. What would scare me even more is the thought of taking turns out, and then discovering, after the game has gotten popular, that I have to put them back in order to be economical. It'd be like "oh, well I can go bankrupt to continue providing this service, or I add the turns back in and lose 3/4 or more of my user base."
