It has been used for a while now. They just adapted the technology for other purposes.

This world is scary, sooner or later they'll invent something that displays "everything" ._.

Look to GE for that tech. Its uses sound to produce 3D images that can be adjusted to veiw any portion of the human body. From the internal images of dense bone matter all the way to seeing what lays under your 3PC suit.

Now that is something I might be able to look forward to. Not a direct invasion of privacy - technically... - but still retains the cool factor.

That'd be horrible imagine if you saw a pregnant walk by and you saw that the baby wasn't developing/dead already so you knew it was a miscarriage. I know I would feel horrible about it because I knew and she still had to go through that

Chances are, something like that would often be used in hospitals, and give them a chance to prevent such situations.

I remember a long time ago there was an issue with those see in the dark cameras where if you used them during the day in bright light it would penetrate light colored/thin clothing.

IR cameras do not work that way. They cannot penetrate.

Low level light cameras cannot see anything in the day.

Thermal can see through objects, but the penetration value would depends on a few things.

Out of these three devices none of them give detail as "X-ray" vision or similar type of vision.

My father was a high ranking engineer in the army. I got to play with many sorts of toys when I was a child/young teen. My favorite toy was this simple die pack. Throw it in the public pool and it would make the pool blood red....... it is used for survival in the water.

Ultrasound imaging was first introduced to the public as a device used in hospitals.

I wasn't refering to IR specifically, rather this technology which I just googled: http://www.kaya-optics.com/products/overview.shtml
