lol I think I'm giving mixed signals here...
You make it seem like I'm trying to bar every adverstisment imaginable but, I'm not. That's not what my blog was about and that's not the message I'm sending.
In fact I agree with almost everything you said in your posts from why advertisment is needed in order to gain money. Without advertisment, companies wouldn't make alot of money. That's where our agreements end.
I don't know how I can convey this point any clearer. I agree that ads are needed but there is a limit.

Beer commercials glorify their product. It shows that if you have a beer in your hand then girls will flock to you and you'll be the life of the party.

and this doesn't even count alcohol poisoning. Does this mean that people are stupid? No. But, now you notice on the commercials that if you read at the small text at the bottom it will say "Please drink responsibly"
Smoking commercials does almost the same. Truth.com is trying to counter it.
Maplestory is addicting. Any addictive substance will have different adverse affects, mentally, physically and with any relationships you may have, including relationships with your family members.
And YES there has been cases of people stealing from their loved ones for NX. We've seen it posted on this board a few times. And even if the parents did want to protect the kids they couldn't. Why? Because
now when you double-click that Maplestory icon you're greeted with another ad jampacked with more ads!!! (As if it wasn't bad enough that you had to wait for the ad screen to load up everytime you hit "quit game")
Without the proper guidance one can believe that they absolutley need the product that is being glorified. And hypothetically speaking if you didn't want the crap that is being sold it would be really difficult nearly impossible to avoid it. Ads everywhere. Calling your house ON A SUNDAY AFTER 8. Who the heck wants that?
And YES there has been cases where the Government had to step in and protect people from different things. Why do you think that people aren't allowed to smoke in certain areas?
You're a paying customer. If something bothers you then you have the right to speak your mind and do something about it. You don't have to lay down and take it. It's business its all business. People put 20$, 30$ or even 50$ a week into this game. They should have a say. Maplestory is a business. They made it free so they could lure you in and then show you the good sh**!! That's what businesses do.This game probably makes more than WoW. Without a monthly fee attached Maplestory gets at least 3X the amount of users WoW. MapleStory is a business and will do w/e heck it wants to do unless you do something about it.
Some people on this board puts more money into this game than me if, anything they should be mad! If you're tired of being fed ads and being taken out of the immersivness of your world then you should say something about it! It's your world. People complained about the GMs not doing a good job now, I don't see any hackers. That was a people's move. They were tired of it.
And I really was going to let this go. I really was. I was going to let it sink to the bottom buuuut, since this is getting intellectual I think it's really good for the board and to stimulate our minds (me included ^_^) I don't take it quite serious although I should.
Question everything. Question the whole world around you. That is what will make it better.
