hmmm i dont know about you chantz but im a really popular guy and everyone knows i play mmo's....they dont play them with me but they know i love me some city of heroes.....a game cant decide your popularity or whos friends with you its just how your personality is...so if ppl are gonna flame you or stop being your friend because you play wow then wouldnt that make you think if they really are your friends or not.

Why would you think that people think WoW is only for "nerds"?

WoW seems aimed at young people that want to mindlessly kill things. The PC game that it came from really had no substance.

I dont believe that the perception is that WoW is for nerds specifically. HOwever, even today, the general consensus for individuals over 35 is that video games are for nerds.

Younger populations are more accepting of video games in general. However, the idea of Roleplaying is still looked as a "nerd' thing to do. Thus MMORPGs (with emphasis on the RPG part) is still thought to be nerdy by some.

However, if anything WoW has broken that perception and really opened up MMO to a new audiance. Other games like Second Life are also breaking this belief.

Sorry to bring back an old topic. But I had to comment here. Im in the Marines been in eight years, and I tell everyone I play WoW. In fact I've gotten a few Marines addicted via sending them the 10 day trial.

This game is fun, and great. I guess since im 28, im past the point of hopeing "girls" think im cool. Especially since im married (my wife plays also) I've never been called a nerd, but as marines we laugh at each other and talk crap ya know. But whats funny is, I used to talk crap to thses guys, and now im sitting in the nerdy section.

I have an active social life, go to the gym, do things like normal people... if i'm home and have nothing to do i'll jump onto the ole WoW. Similar to how others play on an xbox 360.. ps3 or anything else.

Playing the Nintendo Wii (i no a lot of people who play) is a type of console.. does that make them a nerd for playing it? :P

So no.. wow isn't for nerds. People mistakenly think wow is like Warhammer, so they tend to say u nerd or what not..
