I'm currently using RPG VX (still learning the ropes,) and was wondering what is the latest version of the RPG Maker series? Also, if anyone could point a Scripting for Newbies guide/manual, that would be great!

I think RPG Maker XP is the newest and for a guide just google Ruby scripting guide.

The newest is RPG Maker VX although it lacks alot of things due to it being new.

VX Map system sucks shit*

VX has no customizable maps is lacking in script releases and for noobs XP is the better bet right now.

Hadn't realized this thread was still going.

But, I was making a rather fine game in XP, but.... had a lil' power surge type thing. My comp. sort of, blew up. Started smoking and all that good stuff. But, as you can tell, it is fixed.

Still a total newb at scripting, by the way.

Go RMXP.

With a few scripts, it can do everything VX can do.
And RMXP is just ... better lol.
