Hi, I'm a programmer looking for a job. Here are some of my skills.
C++ (I consider myself a master in this) Object oriented design openGL SDL VB MPI (Message Passing Interface, for those who don't know) Upper level calculus Trigonometry WHAT I WON'T/DON'T WANT TO DO: First let me say things I outright refuse to do. I won't use direct X. No, not because I think direct X sucks, on the contrary, it is amazing. I refuse to learn windows.h, it was made by the worlds worst programmers, with terrible documentation, form, style, and just about everything else. If there is a way to use direct X with SDL or glut or another API like those then I don't know it. From what I have seen, read and tried with direct X, you HAVE to use windows.h to make use of it. I won't use VB for a project that I'm looking for. Straight up, I'm just not interested in VB and what it has to offer. Any game that can be made with VB is not something I'm looking to do. VB is powerful if used right, unfortunately most people just use it because they either A: are lazy or B: don't know how to really code. I won't code in windows. There is no reason, since I won't use windows.h, for me to code in windows. If windows had a good console/terminal, I would be all for it, unfortunately they picked up the command prompt just to say they have it. It's a steaming pile of dog doodoo. As for visual studio, it's like hitting a nail with a battleship sized sledgehammer. visual studio is for MASSIVE projects on a grand scale. Dev C++ or whatever the program is called seems very nice. But I do not have enough knowledge in it to use it effectively. In any case Linux has an equivalent of that anyhow, which I find far easier to use. That does not mean I won't make games that won't run in windows. All of the things I have knowledge in will produce games for Linux and Windows both. Everything I code personally is always dual compatible with windows and Linux. In my opinion everything should be. I won't waste my time with people who played a game and all the sudden want to make one. Be serious about it. I'm a serious coder with experience who likes to hobby coding games, I just want to be with like minded individuals. WHAT I WILL/WANT DO: Anything that is not above. I'll learn or attempt to learn anything new, or use the skills I already have. I am looking more for a 2D game at the moment. I am in the process of writing my own 3d game engine and making another one from scratch seems counter productive, and I'm not going to release my code just yet. I've worked on it for almost a year now and I have become attached to it :P I really want to learn the RUBY language. If this is not a current project, I will probably try to pitch this to you. I want to use RUBY and SDL together to make a 2d game engine. I think it would be fun and very compatible. But I am not opposed to doing anything else. Learning python would be fun to. Really other than what I said above anything else is cool with me. Even if I use the skills I already know I'll be learning something. Which is in the end why we are all here right? Regardless of the post I'm a very friendly guy, I'm just trying to ward off some of the less attractive people . I can work well in a team, and can be a great addition to any projects that are currently under way.In closing let me say that I consider myself someone who can learn anything. Some things are harder than others to learn, but in the end I have thus far tackled everything I have ever tried to do. I am fully confident that nothing is impossible, we just don't know how to do it yet. Everything I make is multi platform. I prefer to code in Linux or mac OS. To me things like direct X are great and all but their functionality does not exceed the ability to be used on multiple platforms. Also windows.h sucks.
