It's likely that they're sending invites to active supporters on fan sites and such, and will begin sign-ups when they need to stress-test the server. Makes sense; selective recruiting means the people will be more likely to actually beta-test and not just screw around for the novelty of playing the game first.

I'm not sure of the signup process but on the FAQ it says you register from the website. As vague as it sounds it might be the more probable way... I think
 Ah! I'll be titled as Colonel Stevz. (If they allow such an elaborate name there.)
