Default Looking for Pixel Artists (Big surprise, huh?)

http://www.elemental-nations.net/

Quote:
Pixel Artist: Pixel artists are generally responsible for in-game artwork such as character sprites, buildings, foliage and scenery tiles. Based on past development experiences pixel artist are the hardest members to find. Reliable one's are usually next to impossible to find.
Thats what our lead developer posted on the the forums. Basically, we're making a 2D Avatar: The Last Airbender MMO fan-game (Free, of course). We're making progress, and have a decent staff put together. But we've only got one Pixel Artist, and he's being overworked, so we're looking for a couple more to help out.

If anyone is interested, just PM Reiza, our lead developer, on the above linked forums.

Elemental-Nations A Avatar: The Last Air Bender MMORPG

Elemental-Nations is a mmorpg in development based off Avatar: The last Air Bender. ATLA is probably Nick's most popular action series at the moment and the world is a great setup for massively multiplayer online gaming.

In Elemental-Nations, also known as EN and more commonly known as ENO, You create a character in the nation of your choosing. You have a choice of the four nations from the series. The Air Nomads, The Earth Kingdom, The Fire Nation, and last but no least the Water Tribes. Based on what nation you choose that will determine what kind of bender you are. It's up to you to choose your favorite. We are still debating whether we'll have an option for a player to join a nation and not be a bender.

The game is still in early development and not much is being released to the public.

The game isn't level based, as in you do not level your character up. Your bending abilities and other stats can be increased but this is at the pace of the player. We aim to provide a skill based replica of the world of Avatar.

So join in the community and help us make the game of your dreams. We can't do it without you, and to be honest why would we want to try?

just because a game is free doesn't make it legal. They can still sue for damages and more likely send a you a cease and desist as soon as any hype builds up regarding the end of the game.

Either get proper permision form the company that is in posesion of avatar or make an 'avatar inspsired' game (use differant names/items but keep the same kind of theme)

Or just use your creativity instead of relying on leaching off somone elses ideas!

Thank you for telling me things that I already knew. I did post that I understood all copyright issues beforehand.

On another note, leaching off someone else's idea would be trying to pass their product off as our own. In our case, that is not the case (I like the way that sounds but back to the subject). We're just trying to create a game in which avatar fans can immerse themselves deeper within. I mean if I was going to still an idea I would at least want to make some form of profit don't you think?

The idea of air bender was not one of yours therefore: somone elses idea

You are using the idea [without the permision/against the will] of the owner of the idea therefore: leaching/stealing
Need I say more?

There is a reason that companies send cease and desists to projects like this and part of that is that if they take off they can be very damaging to companies. Avatar already has authorised games of the same genre (exspecialy the ones for the GBA) and they could easily say that this is competing against them.

Also because you're team isn't a real company you are liable for the effects so if they were to sue it would most likely be from your pocket.

I'll keep mine short, yes I know that the series isn't my original idea. Still it's a fan based game/fan made game. So when I actually generate a profit from using their idea then please by all means call me a thief.

Everything else was just a reiteration of what many before you have said so I felt no need to reply to it.

that's the dumbest answer ever... we're the only two people posting in this thread, what you REALLY mean is that you can't answer it because you're in the wrong.

Make that a third person.
About the copyright matter:
As long as you know the risks, power to you.

About the actual game:
Sounds pretty good, I actually may play this game. Just as a reccomendation, since you are using an existing IP, do something original with it, like Lego Star Wars, it has won many awards for being original with the IP.

No, It could be from the fact that I've posted advertisements on other sites. So that would make you wrong twice. One count for saying that I can't answer something that I've done many times. Another for jumping to a conclusion.
