I'm still playing archer and I find the closed mine to be extremely painful. Those slings are so hard to kill and do like 400 damage so it's kind of hard to pull the teleport lever. Is there any kind of strategy or tip for moving through the closed mine without spending all my potions trying to stay alive?

U might have to waste about 5 or so pots, basically u run non stop to the lever, when u get there, dish out all of ur main attacks killing the slings, that helped me get passed, had to kill like 3 slings there. Its the only adive i can give u actually.

After that is the red golem itself pretty easy to kill?

possibly the easiest boss. its more of a hit and run with archer. he has like 5k hp
