Another thing that's always bothered me, more than anything-- it's the fact that developers can't get it through their heads that character animations, and movement, are EXTREMELY important; more so in MMORPGs than all other games. You're going to be staring at, and playing as a character for countless hours: hundreds, and possibly even thousands. When they can't get something so important down-- (the only games that come to mind, which have, are FFXI and WoW) it makes the game obsolete in my mind. It's a completely half-assed product, and there is no excuse as to why the casting, combat, and movement animations look so stiff. It pisses me off to no end. There's no way I'm ever paying for this game. |

Saber, your argument over impressionable minds is irrelevant. Children that are impressionable (ages under 15 or 16) would never obtain the games if their parents would be parents. It doesn't take hours and hours to police either, it's as easy as not buying them, or even taking five minutes to see what your child is playing, and if it's something you don't like, take it away, or even better put a rating lock on the system. If parents don't want their children playing violent video games, it's as easy as not buying it for them. Only a completely irresponsible parent would buy an item without looking into it, which in that case it's the parents fault. Even if you want to go a step further, you can set your video game system to only play certain games. You can set it to where it won't even boot up a T or M rated game, and you know what? It's not hard to set either. If a parent cares enough, they'll set it. It doesn't take rocket science to know how to set a parental control setting, it's as easy as going to it, putting what you don't want, and putting a numerical code in. And until you show me some solid numbers on stores breaking the age limit; and I'm not talking about 15 or 16 year olds buying those games, while that is breaking it, it's not like it's selling it to people that can't handle it. The argument that high school kids want to kill people over video games is completely stupid. Those cases are so isolated, it's not even worth mentioning.

The game is currently selling quite well in the shops and with every copy sold a number of trial keys go with them, Judging how Funcom have run their games in the past they will not have an public download trial for quite some time give it 6 months to a year.

Its quite a good game in genearal.
Yes there are bugs like any game, but there seem to be the same people almost spamming that the game is crap on the official boards. The severity of the existing bugs is over-rated due to how some people are acting. Rather than simply adressing Funcom with the issue, more often than not the boards are attacked with childish reactions to a slight physics fault (been sent futher from a hit than you should), or missing content (currently has a poor end game, but then WoW has you running raids over and over....and thats good end game? ). But whith 2 patches a week it should get fixed fairly promptly (well we can hope). The gist of that is, its not as bad as some people are making out. I doupt many people will be up for a trial, the full game is around 25GB, and needs 30GB it install. A trial client at best I think would be between 10GB+ Also, the insert in my box says we get a 7 day buddy key, but some people are saying it will be 10? eh? |

The guest pass gives a person 3 free days to play the game.
But the guest passes are not yet available, and won't be until Funcom thinks the game is ready for an onslaught of new 3-day players. The game itself is wonderful though, and I recommend anyone with a decent computer to go out and get it. But if your expecting 40 FPS all the time, you need a computer that was built this year. |
