I think the reasons why Naruto is popular is because of the same phenomenom that made Dragon ball Z so popular aswell. You got all those characters that get stronger, and stronger, and keep fighting enemies that are stronger. And when you think they've reached the peak of their power, they get even stronger. It's exponential. I don't know, I think people just get fascinated by that for some reason. I like naruto, I think it's a good entertainement for this type of anime. Imo, no anime is inherently better than another, because they are different. If I want to see some direct combats for instance, I'm going to watch something like bleach, not Death note. Compare to something like gundam seed, where the battle scenes are completely different, etc. You can't compare because each anime provides you with a different kind of entertainment.

The classical version of ninjas and naruto's, both are historically incorrect so it doesn't really matter. They named it like that, but it doesn't actually mean anything, it's just a name.

Meh.. I read the manga more out of habit than interest in the story. The art has declined somewhat recently.. Anyway, I'm not masochistic enough to watch the anime, it's what, like a 70+ episode filler arc? Yeah, not happening.

Hm.. anyway, as for quote-endquote Ninjas.. at least go for a classic, Ninja Scroll; or a classic disguised as a new series, Basilisk.

Thank god im not the only one who thinks this.

what really killed the Naruto show for me, was the part with the exame tourney.

i got tired of watching what they call themselves "ninjas" kicking the shit out of each other. and each match took 2 episodes to finish!

half way through the tourney, i got bored, and stopped watching naruto forever.

i tried to get hooked on it again, but it just looked all hype and anime bull to me.

the only ninja thing about it, is that they can jump to high heights, jump from wall to wall, teleport, go into some drive where a glow forms around them, and use ninja stars and some sorta ninja knife.

and everything except for the ninja stars Dragon Ball Z characters can and have already done.

Bleach probably had an insane amount of potential but shoulda ended at Season 2, or after the Hueco Mundo one without all the filler junk in between.

Naruto = Sucks because it attracts little fanboys.

Ok basically anything that ever gets dubbed SUCKS with the exception of like Full Metal Alchemist, Samurai Champloo, etc, if you watch them in the Original Version.
