Basically, every part in your computer is old. You would need to upgrade every single piece of your computer to make it good again. Obviously upgrading everything in your pc would be the same as purchasing a new one.
I would recommend building your own PC as you generally will get the best bang for your buck.
You will need to know what you are doing though.
I will list some parts here that would give you a good computer at a decent price.
Processor (~$175):
Intel Core2duo e6750
Video Card (~175):
Geforce 8800gt
Case (~$150):
Antec P182
Power Supply (~$65):
650w (try for a decent brand name such as ocz or coolermaster or something)
RAM (~$50):
2 x 1 gig DDR2 800mhz (2 gig kit)
Motherboard (~$95):
GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3L
Total: ~$710 (Canadian)
Mouse/Keyboard
Any will do. Razer makes extremely good products, so something like a Razer copperhead mouse and possibly one of their keyboards.
Monitor:
Get a widescreen LCD. When purchasing an LCD, especially for gaming, make sure that the response rate is ~5ms. This will help to prevent 'ghosting' and such. They are not that expensive so try for 20inch or higher depending on what you can afford. I use an LG L204wt which I got a year or 2 ago and it is a great monitor for the price.
With specs like that you can expect to run Age Of Conan at max detail 1680x1050 resolution, as well as counter-strike source and such. Games run great with this setup. Some may suggest quad core, or more ram or whatever, but what I mention here is a good bang for your buck system. You won't end up spending a ton on quad cores and such that are more than you need.
