don't judge from the amv's >.< the members increase as the story progresses...
It's a really good anime imo

I'm sure most if not just a couple are not what you're looking for but meh, doesn't hurt to list it anyways.

Since u like black cat anime , i strongly sugguest u go read its manga (alot better than anime)
ps. there is no such thing as back-up in black cat , the "main" battles are all 1 on 1

-> D.Grey Man , mainly 1 on 1 here too
-> it may sound weird , but Naruto is the one with the real backup (especially when they fight Akatsuki later on , if u read the manga u know what im talking about)

all i can think of . . . . not a big fan of non comedy anime

It is.

But there are many "support" characters, so you don't always only see the army of two.

But yeah, Black Lagoon is a good one as well.
