Meh, if any game goes p2p, if you can't afford to play it, don't complain about it. IE Gaming companies, don't complain about them if you can't afford to play their game, or even buy a cheap 30 dollar standalone game. That just shows people are poor asses.

Or it shows that companies are brainless or greedy ****s who care only about the money. Ever think of that?

Money is srs bsnss. I'm not cheap, if I want quality, I'll dish out the required expenses. Having a job helps, y'know?

Every p2p game out there, the company needs money, live with it. WoW,WAR,AoC,LOTRO,FFXI,DDo, etc.

Oh and you think you should be spoon fed for all the years the company has put in -- all the hard work they have done? Just to give an MMO a price of 30-40 dollars b2p? Lmao, maybe in the future, but not now.

Companies running F2P games are usually the ones who only care about the money, importing ready-made Asian games for which they then provide substandard customer support while milking money from a section of their playerbase who end up paying far more in the cash shop than they would've for a regular subscription.

Indeed. F2P games are usually only short-term they rarely ever last that long. F2P games are short-term money makers, but they make enough for the people hosting it to be content, then another game comes out to grab another player base for some quick money short term game.

Everyone has the right to give opinions, thats not up for discussion...

And there are a ton of P2P companies just in it for the money..you can usually tell by looking at their customer service/updates and if they release expansions instead of just updating regularly.

AO has gone for a long time and is still running strong + has a nice big graphics update...its f2p with option to p2p (though really only needed if you want to level up a lot faster and your more experienced with the game)
Personally I think this is the best way...requiem also did it this way and their running pretty well (though I think they overcharge for only giving a tiny bit of extra EXP per kill but then again I've never experienced both sides so I could be wrong)

Well as it appears now Funcom is in it for the money for AoC. Just look at their failures patch after patch. They also tend to announce something and promise that they will implement a much wanted feature RIGHT near the beginning of another billing cycle. Go figure. Funcom just doesn't know how to make AoC good.. it had a ton of potential.

Dear brothers and sisters of Atys,

In order to keep you informed of what is going on with the new team of artisans working hard in the shadows, we wanted to first tell you that we are really very happy and very proud to work, and for some of us - work again, on the magical world of Ryzom.

We also want to sincerely apologize for not having been able to talk to you earlier. Unfortunately we had a lot of work to do to revive our fabulous planet; tonnes of terrabytes of blood, sweat and tears... hard drives to recover, check, and deal with... countless Kami, Karavan, Kitins and tools to find and put in place... all in an effort to prepare for your next visit.

We are all really pleased to share our joy that now the hardest part is behind us.

At the same time, the servers have been revived in a testing phase for several weeks now, and with the help of our great CSR team, we have worked hard to repair Atys to its former glory. We mowed lawns, trimmed hedges, pulled weeds, and fed the Yubos which were feeling very hungry and abandoned.

Our next step in the coming days will be to re-open the servers for free - a VIP access to all our former Homins to thank them for their patience (to be specific, all the players who had a paid account at the time of the closure of servers).

Then, for the second step, we will allow new adventurers and travellers to come and tread the soil of our beautiful planet Atys!

Thank you once again for your loyalty and above all for your patience; the new Ryzom team bids you a very warm welcome and is looking forward to seeing you again in our world...

The Ryzom Team.

Hmm, I will correct myself and hope you correct yourself. It isn't "Funcom" as a whole, there are two completely seperate teams working for both games.
