Samurai Champloo wins in terms of soundtrack, action etc.. but its a different genre than Higurashi lol. how can you compare two animes of different genres?! Samurai Champloo is and action anime while Higurashi is mystery/horror

And,

Cowboy Bebop > Samurai Champloo
Samurai Champloo is much newer then Cowboy Bebop.
And they should give it a english title rather than a long jap title for higurashi.

Wait wait wait wait!!! . . . wait!!!

Are you refering to the dubof Higurashi???

And second off, Samurai Champloo is still in its original Japanese terminology. Samurai is a Japanese word and Champloo is a noun.

Besides, I prefer that Names of anime series be left in their original context when dubbed. It makes it a lot less hustle to actually find the Japanese counterpart.

note: I hated how the renamed "Utawarerumono" by renaming it with its translation. It made the series sound gay and girlie from the translation.

note 2: "Higurashi no Naku Koro ni" translates to "Those who cry 'Higurashi'" and 'Higurashi' is not that easily translated.
---
I said Champloo is a great series, but so is Higurashi. In most cases, Higurashi is more original than Champloo. Champloo is a parody (hundreds of those), Higurashi is a time traveling, lollie killer anime . . . there aren't many of those out there.

Also, you [FAIL] as a critic.

I love how many animes have english names in them.

Samurai Champloo ( I consider english)
Bleach
Full Metal Alchemist
and so on....
While a long name like higurashi no naku gay kuro whatever is still in jap context. They could have at least name it too "when they cry" or something like that.
I personally found higurashi: kai really boring.

Adding high school students or anything of the sorts to a series kinda makes it unoriginal.

Yes, instead Samurai Champloo uses the elements of Hip Hop and Samurai, both diversely different cultures and fitted into an anime.
Thats what I call original.

There is still a flaw to your examples, those were the original names when they came out in Japan, they were never translated when they got dubbed. The thing about Japan is that they are multicultural when it comes to language. They gladly use English words when it is needed and never complain when they see English (well, maybe the ones that flunked their Engrish lessons). Why can't the rest of the world be less stubborn when it comes to similar matters.

Oh yeah! Just wait, Higurashi is getting a third season.

Once again, that inserting and syncing up a series to Hip-Hop is not original. There have been several animes in the past to use a Hip-Hop theme; however, not a strongly as Samurai Champloo did.

In fact, since when did Hip-Hop become a culture, it's a style of music and dance. You don't see people speaking the powerful language of Hip-Hop (well, at least understand the stuff)

Actually, there longer this thread goes on, the more I grow to think that the only reason you love Samurai Champloo is because of a bias you have for Hip-Hop, a "one note tune" if you will?

newer? it doesn't mean that a newer anime is better than an older one. you fail if you automatically assume that every new anime pwns older ones.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hip_hop_culture
Hip Hop is a culture since when it was created. Sir, I love Samurai Champloo because of its uniqueness. Its the only anime that almost made me cry when it ended.
For a normal person hip hop and Samurais are view as too different things but as the director of Samurai Champloo he is willing to mix various rare aspect into the Anime.
Take a look at one of the main character's fighting style. It is mostly break dancing, beat slashing and basically a hip hop original fighting style.

And they are not making a third season for Higurashi, they are making OVAS.

LOL, I dropped SC after 2 episodes, not even the power of Ayako Kawasumi can overwhelm the stupidity of it.

And the fact that the OP song is unbearable.. gosh, Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni is so much better in these aspects, even when they are worlds apart in terms of content.

It was a fun anime but by no means the best.
