Not using such an expensive program? Just letting it sit there? You are letting go to waste a program that is taking over the game industry, a program that is already leading in the film industry.

such a sad fate for 2 to 5 grand. What license was it? I suggest getting back into it, it is a very rewarding field.

yeah, most of the problems are slowly fading, but I'm starting to get back into it as I got a spark for the game industry, but Im going to allow a few years so I can learn C++ and Maya & Direct X. It'll be better as I will be able to do things alot better to understand.

I would advise you to specialise in one or the other.

developers hire hundreds of people so a broard area of knowledge isn't really going to do much to help you.

You're only going to be judged on the field that you're employed in and you won't find any decent jobs that place you in both.

If you want to lead a team it's good to have a brief understanding over everything but you won't have time to do everything in the team so you might aswell learn to do one of the jobs well.

well, if you legally have maya, don't waste everyones time on saying your going to use it when your probably not. I suggest USE IT because it is not a program you just use periodically. It's considered to be the most top notch in 95% of the film industry, everything from Beowulf to 10,000 BC used maya for animation and visual effects.

Even star wars.

Don't get me wrong if I sound a little rude, but it is unbelievably suspicious you have maya and don't use it.

EDU and ple licenses don't allow you to sell your stuff made in it, so we can rule those out.

Maya and 3d studio are not a commodity they are a privilege. So if you have both, learn to do something useful with them.

If you dont care, then go learn programming.

I understand the reason for you suspicion and all, Don't get me wrong, I mean I would use it 24/7 but just major problems came up in between the family, and we lost some family members. So, it was a hard time. I would actually try to use it, but I was always busy. Now that everything is better, I AM going to start using Maya more frequently. I'm not going to let the money I invested it in go to waste. It would be pointless in buying it, right? So I'm going to start using it more frequently to get my money's worth. I would use 3ds Max from a friend's computer, that is how I learned my animation. I stopped talking to them a while back, so I have no chance in using 3ds Max unless I buy it. Which I'm sure I'll just stick with Maya. But, as I stated in my introduction, I am devoted to my work when it comes.

By stating that, I was actually referring to: "Should I learn programming or Maya?"
I wasn't asking between Maya or 3ds Max.

But lets get back onto the topic. Does anyone else have any input on what else I need to make an idea for an MMORPG?
