i used to teach english to lil mexican kids at the librar 2 hours a week.
now my friend made this organization to help over in darfur by sending supplies. so far she's done nothing and i'm just racking up hours over doing nothing. also, if you want to volunteer, try community service projects, like libraries, hospitals, etc. restaurants just don't look good, work at them, but make sure you get paid.

helping a business does not count as volunteer hours since you're helping to wash dishes which inturn is helping the owner, unless your school accepts that.
try looking for an opportunity to help the community.

Why would you want to work as a dish washer for volunteering? I used to volunteer at a local library in high school and I can say it was a pretty good experience because :
1. Air conditioned (nothing beats summer heat like sitting in AC) 2. The people are nice (they're not paying you a cent to help out, so they better be nice) 3. Looks good on paper, much better than not getting paid to wash dishes. |

I volunteered at a local church. They did a play for "Passion of the Christ" and I played the bad thief on the cross beside Jesus haha. It was like a 2 minute scene, and I got 50 hours for it

I did dishwashing at the knights table soup kitchen.
To answer you though, I don't see why not. Washing dishes isn't exactly work that needs tons of training. Plus he wouldn't have to pay you. I doubt he'd mind.

You aren't allowed to do community service in the form of a job that anybody else would be paid to do.
That means no, you can't wash dishes at the restaurant because he has people on staff that he PAYS to do that stuff. You need to find something to do in your community. |

You can try your job office..place thingy..I forgot what my school has it as..But they help high school students find jobs and such. They should have community service positions. Also you can try clubs, there are quite alot of community service clubs at my school. I think the last one I did was FanimeCon or something in downtown.
