No it doesn't take a lot of RAM the video card takes care of everything. I have Debian Lenny + Compiz Fusion.

How did you make both those monitors work? I don't get it. So once you drag your mouse off the screen of one it transfers to the other, right?

you just stick the dvi/vga plugs just in your gfx card and you have two monitors, mouse can go anywhere on those two monitors

you need an application for two different wallpapers on your monitors tho

edit; alluring beat me

edit2: unless you have a dual monitor wallpaper you dont need an app because they will spread over the 2 monitors, if you have two seperate pictures for on both monitors you need an app
