The reason for updater issues is because EA picked the game up just where it was before: weak systems because they just ditched the game. They are working on replacing a lot of the hardware, but if you keep trying, you'll get to a point. They also reboot the servers for a few minutes twice or three times a day for constant updates.
If you can't update with EA-Land, go straight to Test Center 3 for all of your updates. That SHOULD work.
