My brother and I have been saving up for an Xbox 360 for a while now and just finally hit the $359 mark. I'm going to go to either Walmart or EB Games on Saturday (which ever is more convenient, don't bother screaming 'GO TO EB GAMES FUCK WALMART!' I won't listen to you) and pick up the premium $350 package.
I need to get a game obviously and I don't really have the money for one. One of my friends told me he'd sell me Gears of War for $10 so I'm definitely gonna pick that one up ASAP. I've been thinking about Kane and Lynch for some good co-op play with my brother. My mom might be willing to spot us a few bucks so we can pick up a game, I'm not 100% sure about it yet. I know I can borrow a few games off my friends until I get some money for my own. Games I know I'm gonna be getting really soon no matter what: Oblivion Halo 3 CoD 4 Xbox Live haha Civ Revolution Gears of War I've also been thinking about these games: Mass Effect Assassin's Creed Bioshock (I played it on the PC about halfway through at my friend's already. Great, nah, amazing game.) The Orange Box (a definite when I get Live. I already have it on the PC, but my brother broke the computer that could run it) Kane and Lynch Army of Two GTA 4 I'm looking forward to Star Wars: The Force Unleashed and Fallout 3 just like everyone else. Those are probably gonna be Christmas purchases or something like that. Any games I'm missing? I've been out of the gaming loop since around 2005. It's awful.

Forget Assassin's Creed. I suggest you play one mission at a friend's house. The game is pretty much the same thing 9 times over.
Mass Effect is awesome at first, but its replay value goes down a little once you realize that there really isn't that much depth to the combat system. Halo 3 is fun with a rowdy crowd. Oblivion is fun to goof around with. CoD4 is intense, and pretty fun.

Oblivion is a good choice to start out with. You will definitely spend a lot of time on it.
CoD4 has an excellent action/war storyline. It also has some pretty intense online. Don't listen to Xeno, Assassin's Creed is a great game. Who cares if all your doing is assassinating people, the game is called Assassin's Creed, right? :P The game is more in dept than that. Its beautiful, and you can free roam it to your liking. After you beat the game, you have the freedom to do anything (within the game's coding). I'm pretty sure its a three to four part series. The next one is said to be a prequel. I heard Kane & Lynch sucked from a lot of people. I've seen it myself in action. It looks fun. Never tried it myself, though. A lot of people were let down with GTA4. I wasn't one of them. I really enjoyed GTA4, even if some things were takin' out. Hey, it happens when you have to focus on two consoles making them nearly perfectly the same. The online is pretty fun for awhile. Umm...if you're into RPGs, go with Lost Odyssey. Niko/SlipknotMaggot/Runahs seemed to enjoy it. It looks pretty good from what I've seen. You should get Ninja Gaiden 2.

It's free roam, sure, but the missions are repetitive. At least, the three sub-missions are. Now, I have some awesome memories of my actual assassinations, (like the time I jumped into the middle of a castle swarming with guards to kill one guy, and then I'm totally surrounded and the only way out was UP!). However, like I said, these are but minor parts of the game: the bulk is made up of beating up guards beating up civilians. The game isn't that great, IMO.

I hear Army of Two isn't that great.
If your into these types of games, get Devil May Cry 4 and Ninja Gaiden 2 Oblivion Halo 3 CoD 4 Xbox Live Civ Revolution Gears of War If your into JRPGs also (but judging from your list, FPS fan?) You could look into Blue Dragon (meh) and Lost Odyssey Oh yeah, and Star Wars: The Forced Unleashed should be good also, I'm getting it. |
