Some of the comments in this thread are fucking hilariously idiotic.

1) He did patent it.. I don't see where the bullshit is. The question is whether the resemblance between his original patent and the technology used on the Nintendo DS is strong enough to hold up in court.

2) It doesn't matter if he was too slow.. So if I have a contract saying I have 12 months to pay for a car I bought, but someone else comes along and buys the car after 11 months because I waited too long, that's fair? He had a patent, he wins.

3) It has nothing to do with being smart, since he didn't actually use the technology. It's bullshit luck to randomly think of such a great idea.

I don't think it will hold up in court though, especially since he renewed the patent too late.

Edit: For those who don't know, a patent is a set of exclusive rights to an idea that you get approved by the government. Inventors get a patent when they have a "breakthrough idea", so no one else can steal it and take the credit for it.
