There are actually 3 : 1. Morality (basic code of conduct, based on religious views or universalist thoughts, like Plato's) 2. Virtue (similar, but aims at perfecting certain virtues through your actions) 3. Relativism/Consequencialism (balance out the pros and cons of everything, it's been proven that society can run pretty damn fine with a relativist ethics) The only reason why arguements on the internet never end is because people state their opinions based on different ethics (sometimes way too ****ing universalist) as if they were facts... If you state an opinion as a fact, it opens up a discussion Most people, at that point, enter the discussion with their opinions, sometimes based on the same ethics as others (and group up)... There's nothing wrong with that, it's not like they're necessarily pumped up in front of their screen... Philosophy course FTW

And justice is defined as the ability to judge based on human equality... It's actually a virtue. Indeed, way too deep for these forums... |

And there is such a thing as universal right and wrong. It has been shaped by the philosophers and other brilliant minds that have existed throughout the history of humanity. You think like you do not because you're unique; rather you think like you do because of people who existed before you. People like Francis Bacon, Thoreau, Frederick Douglass, Plato, Aristotle, and many other names which have slipped my memory for the moment. Last edited by sKin; 11-24-2008 at 07:00 AM. |

"philosophia moralis" as being the first to deliver a pilosophical defenition to the terminus. That is why point one is not morality, but "moral ethics", which means nothing but applied, or also customary or habitual morals (which can't be as much attributed to Plato as to the misunderstandings he caused, that are within your ordering continued, if you do him the favour on leave those points out of discussion, where he provably numerously contradicts himself). Now, that you started on a false premises, you just got yourself handed, for not knowing the difference between a priori and a posteriori. @sKin: You are right at least on the terminus, but that still would keep the philosophical history carnal and flawed. A ulterior claim would be completely unfounded, without a causa a priori, which is still amiss. (Such would be for example, that humans have a soul, etc.)
