But it made a lot of money. So game developers are still trying to oversize weapons/characters, use annoying cover systems, and bleach everything in the game red. Also, I lol'd at that last Sim's screen. Can't wait to get it for my laptop. |

Look up a game called Kill Switch, and you'll find the game that pioneered the cover system for the most part. There's also a game called Ghost Hunter for the PS2 that used a very primitive cover system, along with the whole "stop and pop" style of gameplay.

I agree, Gears of War isn't that great.
But I will say (Since I own Ps3 not Xbox360) honestly. Halo 3 < GoW. Halo in general is just boring. I guess #1 was okay. While #2 being...nothing special, #3 was just boring in my opinion.

"please post screenies of a previous game that used similar graphics(UT3) and system" How is using the UT3 engine innovative? Do you seriously think that every 3rd person game with a cover system is a GoW rip-off? Ever played 2003's Kill.Switch? (too tired to dig deeper) Don't get me wrong, I've finished GoW2 and enjoyed it, but it was still a linear Halo'ish shooter with flashy UT3 visuals... |

In the game, you shoot things.
In the game, you shoot aliens. In the game, your health regenerates automatically if you dont take damage for awhile. There is online co-op. Theres probably more, but I've never played it. Originality doesn't = graphics. Try again. |

Halo 3 is the best of the trilogy and is much better than GoW. More people play it too, so there is my proof.
