Lots of "modern" games that look much worse than Aion. Particularly because Aion boost a pretty good art direction that takes above and beyond the grey-black-brown military shooter of choice.

Eh. Art style is pretty average fantasy stuff. Nothing too ground breaking.

I don't play aion, that was an example. On the other hands, graphics should be used in conjuction with good artstyle to get the fully capabilities of the graphics. Age of Conan has excellent technology, but the artstyle is so bland. Aion's artstyle really touches in the fairy tale fantasy.
