I got every attack skill, since skills reset upon job change anyway. What's nice is that every first job mage attack has at least some use. Here are some tips... Lantern Fire - Kills plants in one shot. That's basically what I use this for. =P Florae Circle - Run above, below, or behind an enemy, then cast this fully charged. This takes bosses out reaaallly fast (though, naturally, it doesn't work so well on bosses that move around constantly). You can also use it as a defensive/offensive barrier, hiding behind it while casting spells, using it to block leaping/charging enemies, and forcing enemies into corners. Frosthead - The explosion radius is very nice. This is pretty handy for taking out mobs. Pluto - Great damage, and it pierces. You can hide behind obstacles and spam this skill. Magic Uppercut - Useful for disabling an enemy, since it has a knock up effect. Dragon Fang - This skill is really fast, so it's handy for combos and quick jabs. Ancient Library - Free MP regen every 150 seconds. This skill really cut down my MP potion usage. Shururu - Toss this into a mob and they'll all go for the doll, allowing you to blast away from a distance. This skill is really, really useful in PvE. Recently, I've been A-ranking a lot of maps by throwing Shururu into the middle of a map, then spamming Pluto and Frosthead on the mobs. I take plants out with Lantern Fire and individual monsters out with Magic Missile and Florae Circle. My suggestion is to get every attack skill, find a few favorites (which can be all the skills if you're indecisive like me), then get really comfortable with using them. You can get by just spamming Magic Missile (it's fast, MP-efficient, strong, piercing when charged, and can be redirected if you hold an arrow key while casting it). You could also go for a build that focuses on high DPS at close-range (Magic Uppercut, Dragon Fang, Florae Circle). You could also go for a build that utilizes all the attack spells (this is what I did). You can't really go wrong as a first job mage. Even in the worst-case scenario, you can still spam level 1 Magic Missile.

Aslong as you can plan out skills, don't go for all of them, that'll screw you up. |
