Any tips? i wanna do drawings like this n stuff... do i need to buy a drawing tablet?
it depends on your skill. If you can handle a tablet than a tablet is the best choice but if you prefer a mouse you can use it too. I work at home with a mouse and at work with a tablet. You need some time to get used to it but than its really good and yeah..if you want to learn some things just use some tutorials. There are many sites with many many tuts around the netz.
When i was new in my job i learned from a book + tutorials and later from my chef and my school (we have dual system in germany - school + work). Next year i am finish and than i go to another land to work there ^^

you should start with easy things that you can finish in 15 mins or something like that. More time = harder. google - photoshop lady. This site have some tutorials where you can see how long you need to work on this project. Start with some photo effects. Most of them are easy going ^^

Um put an overlay image ontop of the original? See if it stacks up. Also it's called a reference picture.

you're wrong , they said d3 won't be moddable , while torchlight comes with an editor , it will be popular among the MOD community even after D3 will be released .

It's painted in photoshop the picture is used as a reference picture for color studies. People are just ignorant. And please try to do the same effect on photoshop with the added detail if you noticed on the front plate and side pauldrons?

Seriously please... show us your godly photoshop skills that would make it look like mine in a couple mins...

I would stay far from his advice considering he thinks it takes a couple mins in photoshop to do a reference painting...

If you want good tutorial try Gnomon Workshop or head over to ConceptArt.org and they have a whole section in the forums for tutorials that are very helpful.

My painted reference version... and my "couple mins" photoshop version. Enjoy.
fenix40k you just have proven yourself to be an idiot.

I'm use a tablet.

Here's a breakdown of my workflow...

I block things out trying to find values and overall shape using a dark gray color

After I'm pleased with the rough gray-scale I will choose the color palette.

Once I get the color-palette out of the way I will start painting in rough details and adding more color

The final stage(I am not yet done with the piece) would be detailing and fine tuning certain areas... this piece is still a work in progress.

Leave it to Onrpg to automatically blame a guy for using quick photoshop effects.

Or would original non-referenced pieces make you guys sleep better at night?

Just ignore them, your work is great, i don't see them posting anything like it so they can't talk really unless they do so.
