Then what was the point of the rule? If you had enough moderators and admins, you simply could of banned the people talking about Pservers.

Eh, its somewhat of a mixed democracy with a bit of oligarchy going on. Its kind of a republic.

the thing we need is a republic(like the US gov., the longest standing democracy all that stuff yada yada yada, it work o.o) and have the mods picked by us, the community. Really though its the internet, this is owned by gabe and he rules all its not a tryanny, its a FREAKING FOURM. Moderaters do what theydo MODERATE. they screen posts and decide (based on the fourm rules set by gabe sandy an fab.) what to do and how to enforce it. A democacy is nuts, the fourms would ERUPT in anarcy, the flames would escaate and this fourm would be a hellhole. Its a bad idea, end of story(though a dem republic would work well.) pure democracys DON'T WORK. they fall as the citizens never agree. All democracys have some sort of modration and all have a sort of republic(either a congress or a parlement) wih them. There is a reason they don't exist they DON'T WORK.

You should thank olaph and icey for just keeping the regular spam out of here, being a mod is nuts. youhave to come to a section of a game YOU DON'T PLAY to deal with people who consider you a jerk on an ego trip, does it sound like something you woud want to do? Mods can't just ban people on a whim. It doesn't work like that, banning people is not easy. I am also sure te SS thread would have just ended up as more trouble then it would have been.you can't "just ban people"

I do thank them for keeping regular spam out of here. I do not thank them for putting up a useless rule that did nothing good to the topic or even the forum.

Whats the difference of coming to a different section than coming to your regular one. All you do is go in there, perma ban the person, and move on. You don't go to a different section than the one your assigned unless theres a report / you go to that section regularly.

Mods can't just ban people on a whim? According to mods in the general section, its easier to ban people than creating new accounts, and seeing as how people can create accounts in less than 4 minutes, it shouldn't be that hard.

The SS thread would of been like every SS thread we have had. It continues forever if you let people post in it.

And you can, "Just ban people". If they have something like a porn link or something that is against the forum rules, its an auto permanent ban.

This forum is like a guild. The more active you keep it, the better it is. If you make it so that people just troll around, then it becomes utter crap.

You know why I don't care about being banned? It doesn't make a difference.
When your banned, you can still browse the forums, you just can't post. So if you can't post in the first place, it doesn't matter.

We do better than that. We actually ask people why they scrolled that kind of gear instead of something else, the price, ect. If you think that the SS sticky was spam, go to some other forums / sections. Most forums even have a section called "Spam". You can even check forum 57 in the old OnRPG. "Spam" keeps us active.

If you think it is absurd and preposterous, you should fix it. There is no we in this. We are all different.

THere is no doubt that Olaph is doing a Good job, same with Icey.
But i do believe that the Rules are a little TOO strict. Because its hard not talking about PServers (Because we know half of This forum are in one) And the SS Section...If its called a SS Section, That basically means a Place where you POST a ScreenShot. People were doing a great job, till it got out of hand. Just Post a Screenie, and Quote whoever the Hell you want to, and Submit.

See jubin, you show the exact reason mass punishment was needed. Bans, don't work What do you do if your temp banned you just wait its no big detrment. if your perma banned? just make an alt.

Bans are just not a threat anymore and they do nothing, also the abusrd comment well, unless olaph gives us a third chance i'm already getting my way.

It is also easy to ban people of course, but i am sure there are regulations and warnings and numerous private messages that olaph has to do before really banning people(and the porn thing is like, one of the break this perma ban rules so no throwing that around plz.) And really, these threads(not this one inpreticular cause ben has a semi decent idea, but the ones whining about it like heroshis and what this thread has became.) show complete and utter disrespect for olaph, and it shows him that we dont apprieciate what hedid because the minute he takes our favorite shiny post count toy away, we throw the BIGGEST temper tantrum i have SEEN.

There was no other choice. And jubin, i don't CARE if i think you are an ass. i really don't even care much about this section anymore its just full of people complaining and people complaining about complaining, and i'm getting sucked into it too.

What's with all the "everyone has to appreciate Olaph" and "people need to care about bans" shit. Olaph knew when he became a mod ages ago people weren't going to be all OH YES I COMPLETELY AGREE AND THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING YOU ARE DOING. It's a forum of teens that act like toddlers; the hell could you expect?

And the whole thing about banning is just no one really cares anymore whether they're stopped from posting. Not like people post much anyways. Barely anyone even gives a shit about their postcount, they just want a topic they can fuck around in posting pictures and discussing crap.

Even if Ben's idea could work-which it probably couldn't, it wouldn't happen and most of us already know that. Or should at least.
