People a long time ago had to walk for miles. we will survive one way or another, even if we have to be sent back to the pre-historic age. and if we would be sent back to that time, we would be so smart, we would probably survive better.

Stop bringing up this "Well people had to walk in the past, so we'll figure a way to survive". These people in the past that you refer to didn't have to travel miles upon miles under a tight schedule. Tell this to the hundreds of thousands(very likely millions) of commuters that have 40 min long DRIVES(In the US alone), and tell them to wake up at 5am every morning so they can make it to work on time. What you don't realize that's entirely crucial is the concept of time = money. Walking does not save you time and thus does not save or generate money a fraction to that of driving.

I'm not denying the fact that there are ways around gas-guzzling cars, but a lot of the time a bike and walking WILL NOT cut it. I'll tell you one thing, it's NOT the consumers ability alone that can change their habits. It's what's being marketed that needs to change before any consumer can have the courage to change their ways.

I'd love to be able to ride a bike to work, regardless of the fact that I'm not complaining about the gas prices. I CAN do it but it's entirely inconvenient seeing as I work within a crowded shopping center and I'd have to cross at least 3-4 heavily traveled roads. I'm not so much worried about the gas prices as it's EVERYTHING is going up in price.

As gas goes up, prices go up, and people are going to need more money, which is going to basically kill us if we don't have the gold to back it up.
If we print more money then we have golds worth, then the value of the dollar goes down, so either way we're screwed.

The answer is simple: Misguided governmental protectionism, the thing that amreic suposedly is "free" of, but in fact is totally ruled by in everything that spans over the border which is the only thing that counts nowadays.

What does protectionsim lead to?
Cheap prices for a decent amount of time, as long as there is still a competition in the market, but as soon as that is vanished, its a catalyst to let prices skyrocket, in this case for no aparent reason (I am talking about the knik in the rise, not the rise) besides the needel-ear of refining. Esablishing it is a tactical decision by the companies, they hold up for said reasons.

Result and sugestion:
1) US, get the fuck of your high horse, or you will notice that it's drowning in a chute, only when it's to late.
2) Buy oilrelated funds.

When the oil would hit the actual value related price, that doesn't get influenced as much by artifical steering, there would be still a problem, but no way a comparabl one to the way it's presented in th media.
Gas would go up, it wouldn't hit the Us though, but Africa, where a rise in gasprice is always going up 800% if the demand fom other countries takes over capacities and they will have another nice little war, where they don't have one by now and there a even fiercer one.

High inflation is a symtom of
- running out of goods, that are vital for sustaining domestic live
- a problem within the system, a failing financial structure
- speculation and overpricing through arificial shortages
Think about it...
Number 1 is not what is happenin at all.
