There was a time where we never had cars. I'm sure we'll do fine now without them. There are bicycles, and you can walk. Cavemans couldn't even ride bikes back then, so we shouldn't complain. Can't afford gas? Walk. Can't afford food? Grow them. Can't afford movies? Don't watch. Back then, there were people who never had money, they lived on what they grow, make, and whatever they could physically do with simple machinary.

As said, use an alternative fuel source, but only if we have already made the move to that fuel source years before this point so that when the switch does happen there are not massive outages.

But I find it funny how so many are complaining about the price of gas... It's really not expensive (though supplies are diminishing). The problem is that the US manufactures are not making fuel efficient cars which eat up a ton of gas.
We in the US has reached about the average price of gas as seen around the world. Before we simply had gas super cheap. Now it's at a more normal price.

Fuel went up by 6cents per litre here recently, and 2 weeks after that it went down 4 cents.

There's a benefit of sitting in front of the computer screen all day.

In portugal, right now 20€ give around 16 liters...

I kid, I kid, but on a serious note; just because we're not cavemen doesn't mean we can't live like that. Farmers basically build their own barn, grow their own food, and other things. Yeah, they do it with tractors and stuff nowadays, but before then, they grew just about enough to keep them living, and yeah.. I could say more, but I'm lazy. Besides, I didn't really mean what I said.
