Well its an actual genre, if you knew.
From what I have watched, its just anime depicting the basic life of the characters. "A slice of life story is a category for a story that portrays a "cut-out" sequence of events in a character's life. It may or may not contain any real plot, and often has no exposition, action, conflict, or denouement, with an open ending. It usually tries to depict the every-day life of ordinary people. The term slice of life is actually a (more or less) dead metaphor: it often seems as if the author had taken a knife and cut out a slice of the lives of some characters, without concern for narrative form." One I just finished was Lamune.

Eh, I don't know of any anime like that, I've always like anime for it's action and thought the use of animation for dramas/romance is redundant. If you wanted slice of life why not just watch something live action? In fact there's an EXCELLENT film for that called 'Ima, Ai Ni Yukimasu'(There's a feature length, which I haven't seen, and a drama series which is fantastic). I DO NOT watch JDramas, I was just interested in it when I saw the novel in the store I work at. I'd recommend it to anyone, but I think it's for very few, seeing as it's a very very simple story and you have to appreciate simplicity. I was going to post Now and Then, Here and There but it's not exactly slice of life. It just has many messages in it about life.

I definitely suggest 'Ima, Ai Ni Yukimasu' then. I watched it on Veoh, not sure where to download. I've only seen the drama so I can't say how the movie is, though everywhere I look it says the movie is better.
