Default Question on FFXII

I got this game recently and i was just wondering For the Main Character Vaan. Is it better to stick with one kind of weapon? Like just swords and Two handed swords? Or could you mix it up a little? Like Sometimes use a gun or soemthing. Is there a build your supposed to follow or can you just do random stuff and use different weapons? Thanks guys

It's better to choose one weapon than to go all over the board picking whatever weapons you just happen to come by.

Designate each of your characters to specific weapons.

For example, if you have Vaan using a one-handed sword and shield and you find an awesome bow, don't waste your LP to unlock the license for the bow and just stay with the weapon you have. Instead, put the bow on your ranged attacker.

Yeah, it's best to assign one weapon for each character. Have one character use a strong melee weapon, another use Bows/Guns and act as a ranged attacker, and have your third member use a Staff or Rod and make them act as the party healer (staves and rods enhance Magic power, so your Cures heal more HP per cast).

My strategy is to have two attackers; one with sword and shield and the other with a high damage weapon like an axe or some such. And have a ranged attacker who uses cure magicks and such.

I cure less initially, but since I have two attackers both wearing heavier armor with less magic resistance, it evens out in the end.

But that's what I do, not saying it works all the time.

A lot of enemies use Magic later on, though.

I'd give my fighters Bow liscences, anyway, because Aerial enemies can only be hit with Magic and Ranged weapons, and using ranged weapons saves on MP.

That's where Telekinesis comes in handy. ^_^

And Throw Gil. If you have the money to spare, that's a pretty devastating attack.
