Calm down, you do know there is a difference between Intel Dual Core and Intel Core 2 Duo right? Dual Core is pretty outdated right now.

It's a pentium D, the architecture isn't as good as a core2duo. Just search pentium D and 8800gt.

Thanks everyone for the help, I appreciate it. But one more question and will probably be my final one.

Will the pentium d 3.4 ghz and 8800gt run games like...

domo (maxed settings)
rf online (maxed settings)
silkroad (maxed settings)
bioshock (will it be playable and not annoying?)
cod4 (again, playable?)
crysis (i have a feeling this is a definite no, or unbearable slow speeds)

The reason I ask this is because I have not been able to play ANY of these games maxed out, or even at all because of my slow comp i have now. The comp i have isn't too bad, just want an upgrade.

my old one is amd athlon 2.16 ghz, 1gb ram, and geforce fx 5500. so im hoping this new one will do alot better. Thx!

ok, please explain to me how dual core is outdated hm? any dual core right now is the standard while the quad cores are still considered next gen.

Hmm You can probably play every game on high except Crysis.. that one will go low-med but still playable ^^ Believe me

if i can run crysis on all high and still get 35 fps on an 8800GS, he can probably easily get 40fps on the 8800GT with all high

not with his processor cause that will the be the bottleneck

lol maybe, i remember on my old pc, i had Athlon XP 2600+, 1gb DDR400, and 6800 Ultra and i got 30 fps at all medium =D so he might be good

I see only a couple of FPS improvement from a 8800gt to a 4850....

if 3-5 FPS better is worth 70-80 bucks more to you then go with it.....I will stick with my 8800gt and wait for the Nvidia 200 series to lower...I only upgrade every couple of years....

I can play crysis on ULtra high setting ( better than very high) and still get rather smooth gameplay on an 8800 gt although I did overclock it to the highest point....and this was done on 1680x1050 res
