Now im not sure for you guys but i think that most of us have noticed that the last 3-5 years have been a pretty bad time for MMO's specifically for F2P MMO's. Even for P2P games very little advancement has been made in the genere. How many times is it that we have seen the same old yellow beam of light descending on the player as an animation for healing? How many games have had the same generic races and classes? Human,Elf,Orc,Half Elf etc. and always with the same typical classes Knight, Archer, Mage(Wizard) , Assasain (Rouge), the list goes on. In every single MMO it's basically the same situation with varying levels or grind or end game content. For example grind to level 30 on terrible repetitive grind quests then you can PK! Then if you want to compete in the endgame content like PvP or raids you'll just have to spend another 50-70 levels grinding through it. Then once you get there and start doing the town battles, the territorial wars,W/E you realize that these fights have no real effect on the game world.
I guess what im getting at is why we don't see more varying aspects in these games. Really why can't we see dwarfs as a playable character more often i think that would be cool. Why not have an MMO centered around vikings or at least having vikings in it. Why aren't there more greek/roman based games or why are there no mythological based ones? Why can't a game just have very little grinding or only a little equipment grinding then let you and your guild participate in events that actually affect the game world!? Either way ill be sticking it out for games like Darkfall,Mortal Online,Fallen Earth,Earthfall, and The Crossing which promise gameplay like this if they ever do come about. Discuss! |

You've got a point in there; every online game seems to have almost the same.
Saddly enough, we can't really do much about it ![]() About Darkfall... that game seems too good to be possible (And if it does get out, it'll probally be very laggy )

yeh i agree strongly. We keep being fed this grindy generic korean crap, and we hype it up, and then it dies. It just repeats over and over. I think we either stop hyping up games before release or just stop playing mmo's till the developers and publishers give us what we want.

That's so true. All the f2p games released nowadays are the same generic korean grinder crap and that's how it's been for the past few years. I quess they sell well in Asia. Well there hasn't been much innovations in p2p games either.
Still I'm keeping my hopes up for WAR. Atleast the PvP in the game will have some kind of impact on the game world. Things will go very bad for order if destruction forces takes their main city etc. I'm looking forward to that. Maybe it will inspire other developer companies to make new innovations (even though the city capturing might not be a new thing). Developers concentrate too much on the graphics nowadays
