b3p fps are a lot deferent.. just that some are heavly influeced but others.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R has some rpg elements like inventory and a open world but its FPS...

is a albeit retarded, Yes first person shooters are alike, they are first person, and they have guns that shoot.

With some FPS' thats all they are

but you can't say CoD4 is just like Bioshock, because it isnt, at all.

You cant say that a good game such as, Combat arms or WarRock is the same as a sucky MMOFPS like Manga Fighter, Combat arms has a good community, cool guns, and is easy to make money in, War Rock has vehicles, while being hard to get money, but Manga Fighter just...sucks....to me atleast..

his next post.... TPS (third person shooters) are alike
his text: you can always see your charater in third person!

ALL FPS have things alike, but their not the same its like calling RSV2 and UT3 the same shoot where (RSV2 if your smart) you get cover and UT3 the only cover you should ever get is as a sniper and thats it the rest is run and gun

FPS with RPG elements take skill
take Hell gate london pvp.... if you ever play assassin (the 2nd most squishy character in the game) you have to use your skills wisely, and be accurate with your sniper (hopefully you have a sniper rifle)
CoD4 took skills
RSV2 contrary to popular belief took skills
Planet side took skills and tatical planning, and grouping

Even just talking about the generic f2p FPSs online, there's more variety there then you'll find in most of the generic MMOs. Just giving 1 or 2 different maps and a couple different types of weapons can make a big difference in the type of FPS. For example, though they're both FPS games Warrock, Soldier Front and Combat Arms are all extremely different just because of a few maps and weapons. Even Crazy Shooter online is different since you can lay down with a machine gun and use it like a turret and you've got those cool cat grenades.

On the other hand let's look at all those generic asian grinders. 12sky, 9dragons, world of kung fu, and other similar crap. It really doesn't matter what the maps look like, all people wanna focus on is the monsters. And they aren't exactly creative either, are they? At level 1 you kill a blue spider, at level five they're orange and at level 60 they're purple. It doesn't really matter what class you are or what weapon you have, all you do is point, click and occasionally press a number for some lame skill. The only MMOs that stand out are things like Atlantica that are so radically different from everything else.

The main differences between the two, one takes skill to play the other just takes patience and a lack of a social life. And even though it's kinda off topic, ever since they started that sprint button garbage, RSV2 doesn't take nearly as much skill as the first one.

like what Resurrection said, yes they are FP but the Game play is what sets it apart, for example, Rainbow 6 and Swat 4 are similar, except the game play, (because swat4 doesn't really have a story line) yet they are both TFPS (tactical first person shooters)

my brother will not play a game unless its graphics are AMAZING (he should of gotten a ps3 not a 360 lol) he is a loser since the only game he plays is oblivion and NHL 08. i my self think that the game play is the most important thing in a game, on or offline. commandos strike force has pretty bad graphics, but the game play is pretty fun, good story line ect.

Try to compare Unreal to STALKER, I dare you. Even such things as the physics of a bullet are changed between the two.

responding to your off topic... Well i did enjoy the free kills with grenades cause you cant run... (*char looks at a gernade and shrugs merely walking to get his *** handed by a gernade*) Sprint is nice, adds more realism cause you aint going to walk away from a nade...

free fps games are all the same....the ones you buy are all very diff from eachother,
b2p ones range from running and gunning, strategical shooting, team tactics, for example look at rainbow six vegas, amazing game but you can never just run and gun in that game, then theres halo, no tactics needed tehre just aim well and shoot, then theres enemy territory quake wars where you cant beat an opposing team unless your team has the required classes playing, then theres unreal tournament where they take all real phsyics and toss them out of the window and just make an intense all out shooter with action you'll only see in a dream

I also think that that team fotress two was pretty innovative, you know its feel its style. Playing cartoon character based on class with unique personalities. Pretty new and smooth gameplay, and now they are releasing all these different weapons for classes, which is awesome.

but we all know deep down in our hearts, there is only one FPS that ruled them all
