I've noticed ever since I got into games (because it's obvious) that there's so many little games and casual games out there that people try to put a price on, even though there's tons on online games that are better and are free.
I'm guessing that it has to do with greed. Like those "break-out" games. You can Google a game like that, and play it for the price of $0. So, I guess I'm trying to start a serious game conversation, but I don't know where to go with it from here. I can't think of anything smart and agreeable to say. ![]() So, really, I'm just starting this conversation both to be serious, and to get a practice on making topics that aren't dumb and meaningful and shit, without turning it into a bashing zone, and me being the hunted. So, help me out. |

Oh yes, because the process of making games takes almost no time at all, and even less effort or intelligence. In truth, the only reason anyone actually charges for their games is because their mean, money-grubbing, greedy assholes who don't care about anyone but themselves.
Well, if you can't see the above for the sarcasm that it is, be warned that it is, indeed, sarcasm. Programing - and all of the other aspects of making games - is a time-intensive process that takes years of experience and patience to get good at. These mystical "programmers" are not robots sitting at their desks that need no sleep or food or life, they are humans who need money and joy in their lives to survive. Thus, they can only spend so much time making games if they are getting nothing for those games. If they get a second job to support themselves, then it means they spend less time programing, and often a lesser product. If they try to live off of donations, then their fates are decided by however many fans they have, and if they are willing to actually bother donating (9 out of 10 people will not give a cent, I guarantee you). And if they flood their site with ads of all sorts, then they lose fans because people think they've "sold out." And so, finally, all they have left is to charge for their game. Sure, some games are overcharged. but if the product is not worth the money, then why bother complaining? Leave it alone and find something else. The developer will either come to his senses, or go out of business. If you want to complain about games costing money, then please, at least give a good reason for it. As it stands, I see nothing wrong with charging for games, even if they are of lower quality. It is just one of the many marketing programs available on the internet. If you don't like it, then don't give him your money.

Hmm, well there are many reasons. One could be they get a large following and paying 1 dollar or say $5.00 for a new fun game is worth it to them. Others is that it's owned by a company that spent money paying for the programmers and artists and now needs to make some revenue to actually stay in the business.
