Default Preventing 1 Posters From Spamming

I've seen it on other forums.
It requires your first post to be approved by a mod in order for it to get posted.
This would eliminate any type of spam from people that just made a new account.

I can't speak for others , but that is likely to chase away any active members from commiting to the community. Is the spam problem really that bad, that we would risk decreasing the activity of the site ?

Yes I have thought of that.
It would usually tick me off when forums use this if the mods weren't that active.
Maybe if someone develops a group of trusted members rather than mods that would judge these first posts.
A real time notice would be issued to one of these people making the response time quick.

What I can see happening is Mods instead of looking through the forums and watching over everything, will be destracted by approving posts. Plus, the spam problem isn't that bad.

With the hundred of posts that get on this site daily from new members... trying to approve them all would be absolutely insane. Sure it seems easy from your view because you wouldn't be the one doing the work. It would be mind numbing and far too time consuming. It is much easier, and practical, to delete 1 post than having to review 100+ posts.
