we'll is all depends
and yes ranger are much more respected, there arent many becuz there aoe lacks dmg @ lower lvls, they can gather faster, due to fast walker and there ranged also if u end up gathering 2 much they can use DI.
but bj are not unique at all.
but this is what it comes down to.
BJ: is a 1v1 ranger. why? becaz i said so 
lol jk. its becuz ranger's 1v1 dosnt suck, its that bj have that crit and knockback and that gives them the upper hand . they CAN aoe and do more dmg (depending on equipts) because of the more DEX but they cant gather its why we dont aoe with them no STA lolz
Ranger: there an aoe class, just not such a good one untill like 90+ when there real dmg and gathering skills kick in.
there not 2 bad 1v1 they have a move that lasts like 40 i think that kicks em up a bit makes prety decent cant rememba da name lol my bad.
easyer to lvl up @ the start theres alot less dieing cuz u have 30STA but u still have decent dmg ^^. there not as good to giant with either but they can get the job done
rangers look better aswell lol

*edit* last minute things the rangers are cheaper for enwer players becaus they dont exactly need greens they can do fine with ur npc blues.
last minute bj. need alot of equipts like areks and gores and stuff to keep u alive
can b quite expensive.
