  1. You should be ok with the operating system on your hard drive.

But if you do not have windows 7 then you will not get directx 11 and if you only have windows xp then you won't get the directx 10 features either.

You could always torrent Windows 7 ultimate 64 bit then burn it to a dvd and install it by booting the dvd up.

But that usually will result in reformatting your hard drive and losing your data.
So if you do that back up your data on burnt dvds or cds or carry them over to another hard drive.

It may be easier to use messenger chat like windows live messenger. I will give you my email in a PM if you want to chat that way since it is faster.
  2. lol Im such a fool xD the little bag it came with had standoffs in it. I got confused because they are black, and they are suposed to be brass.
  3. The local hardware store here doesn't have any standoffs. But thankfully I found an old computer tower in our basement that had some (4 to be exact) it should be enough to use.

Also, I dont have a copy of windows for my hard drive. Do I have to re install windows if Im gona use my old harddrive? I lost my dang cd lol. Sorry if im getting anoying with all these problems.
  4. Also if I were you I would switch the front and back fans that should be already installed in the case with the two fans I listed in the build.

Those fans should have better airflow.

Then you can use the other fans that came with the case and installed them on the side panel.

If you have trouble getting the fans installed in the front and back you can just leave the old ones in and install them on the side panel.
It won't make a huge difference but it may help a little with air flow.
  5. What is important is that the motherboard is raised off the surface so the soldiering points at the bottom of the motherboard do not make contact with the surface. Also make sure the motherboard is leveled with the case and don't have one side higher than the other because that can lead to a difference in weight distribution and can cause problems later.

I am probably making things sound more complicated but it really isn't.

I will find you a nice guide for building a PC but before I do that make sure to check what I asked.

Also you should read the manual that came with the case if there is one.
  6. Well the stand off screws are usually there to help keep the motherboard grounded for it to have less of a chance of short circuiting.

You may be ok without them but just in case you should probably try picking some up at a hardware store.

I never short circuited a motherboard without the stand offs but I don't want to give that kind of advice and then to have you be the unlucky one.
But before you do anything does the case you bought have any raised parts where the motherboard will be installed?

What I mean is that some new cases have the areas were the screws go in being raised to act like a stand off. Maybe that is why your case didn't include any.
  7. Hey the parts are in. Got any guides? I am already finished with putting in the RAM and CPU on the motherboard. Just need to do the rest. Got any guides? Also, the case didnt come with any motherboard standoff screwes to put the motherboard on. Will this effect it?
  8. Yes you're hard drive should work.
  9. Oh my other computers have dvd / cd drives too. I'm hoping I can use those. If not ill just buy one as they are pretty cheap.
  10. I don't see a hard drive in the build, would I be able to just use my old one? Im at new egg right now, about to order all the parts in about 10 minuets.
