I still pull up Watchmen and read a bit of it every now and then. I enjoy it, but I don't think I'll get too hardcore with it.

What did you think of the comics? Get around to reading any of them?

I love The Killing Joke, but I suppose that combines a deep appreciation for comics and Alan Moore, combined with my love of The Joker/Batman dynamic overall.

Regarding Watchmen, I actually think it's one of the best written works ever. That's me though.

Well I decided to read The Killing Joke since I already know about Batman and it seemed like a safe place to start. Wasn't terribly impressed with it. But it did have its moments. Now I'm reading Watchmen and so far it's nice.

Wow, thanks. I didn't expect that many recommendations. Really appreciate it.

Those Green Lantern ones aren't by Mark Millar, I dunno if that was clear. The former two are by Geoff Johns among others, Emerald Dawn is by Keith Giffen.

From D.C.: I'd recommend The Dark Knight Returns by Frank Miller, The Killing Joke by Alan Moore (The DEFINITIVE Joker story), The Long Halloween by Jeph Loeb and Kingdom Come by Mark Waid, The Death of Superman by multiple writers, including Dan Jurgens, Green Lantern: Rebirth, Green Lantern: The Sinestro Corps War, Green Lantern: Emerald Dawn and Superman: Red Son by Mark Millar.

Outside of this; Sin City's books by Frank Miller, Watchmen/V for Vendetta/The League of Extraordinary Gentleman (Two volumes with a third upcoming) and From Hell by Alan Moore. Ghost World by Daniel Clowes, also.

Well, after consideration I'd have to recommend The Punisher: Max. It's a sort of R-rated, out of continuity series that's currently available in collected volumes (Trade Paperbacks/hardbacks). Start from #1 and continue if you wish. It's written by Garth Ennis.

Aside from that, I'd recommend the Planet Hulk and World War Hulk trade paperbacks (I have the single issues, but for non-regular collectors these are the easiest). Planet Hulk then World War Hulk, chronologically. Both, I believe, by Greg Pak. Get Magneto: Testament, a riveting holocaust origin story, also by Greg Pak. The same goes for Thor. Get Vol. 1 written by J. Michael Straczynski. Spider-Man: Maximum Carnage by multiple authors including Sal Buscema. Secret Wars by Jim Shooter is definitely worth getting. Daredevil: Born Again by Frank Miller, amazing.

Hmm. I'd recommend the Dark Reign saga that's currently happening, but I think we'll wait until whether or not you decide comics are for you.
