Well, you can always start with the basics of framing and composition of a shot (be it video or photography), which are basically: make most of the shot worth looking at, but direct the viewer's attention to the specific thing you want them to look at. Don't distract the viewer.

I've always been into photography in cinematography, do you have any advice on where I should get started? My long term goal is to become a director of photography for independence films.
