Playable demos are nothing new, but usually they last no more than about a half hour -- just enough to give you a taste and leave you wanting more. Square Enix, apparently, isn't worried you won't be left wanting more. The latest issue of Famitsu reports (via PlayStation Universe) that the Final Fantasy XIII PlayStation 3 demo will last upwards of two hours long. That is, in fact, about 20 minutes longer than the original cut of the movie it comes with.

The demo, as you've surely read, will be included with the Blu-ray release (March, 2009 in Japan) of Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete, an extended cut of the original 101 minute CG film with deleted or unfinished scenes added in. But with a two-hour-long demo packed in, it makes you wonder which part of the deal will end up feeling like the "bonus" -- we suspect many PS3 owners won't purchase it with Advent Children at the top on their agenda.

Famitsu also confirmed that the demo will be based on the opening segment of the game, and that it'll come on a separate disc of its own. No word yet on whether (or when) a U.S. version of the demo is planned.

WTF?
If the demo is two hours long, how long is the game?

I'm guessing like a lot of similar titles, it has a good 22-30 hours of solid game play. Hell, I had about 90+ hours on FFVII before I even beat it.

But seriously, 2h demo sounds JUICY.

If the demo is two hours...the game has to be +60 hours of gameplay. Knowing FF, maybe more.

The demo is supposed to feature the game's entire first dungeon, so....

I don't have a PS3 so i miss out from the demo but i'm gratefull as 2 months ago i would have missed out on the whole game. 2hours long is a huge demo i wonder if it will show some story:hmm:
Well Bad Company will do me just fine for now (till Fable 2 that is;)).

knowing how the ff games are 2 hours will probably make up about 2% of the game only...ffx gave me about 80 hrs of gameplay so im expecting this one to be in the mid hundreds

Final Fantasy XIII
- The Final Fantasy XIII demo will be released on a separate disc to Advent Children: Complete, meaning that us outside Japan can import it without having to worry about region coding. It will be the entire opening of the game which should be 90 minutes of playtime.

Lol, so 100 hours of gameplay would be 100% completion?

Epic. Enix should do that; 1 hour = 1%.

It will probably be more than that...

Unless they make unlockables or side quests part of the %

Well, most FF's have some "easter eggs" so we can go way past the time needed to complete the game, I remember having about 100 and something hours of gameplay in FFX thanks to the Ultima weapons Dungeon.

@Dedinho 90 mins, well, its still a huge demo of one hour and a half and it makes me wonder if its all gameplay or like mentioned here, if some of that includes cutscenes.
