I'd say go to the newest server. Actually I dunno since I play the PH version. There are 4 job classes (mercenary, magician, assist and acrobat). You should look at the forum on the site or some guides around for more information.

As for the server to use --- it doesn't matter, unless you already know people. It's the same game on all servers, but you cannot move characters/items/money between the servers, so once you're "living" on one then that's it (unless you like starting from scratch).

Prices tend to be a bit different, but a rare item on one server is a rare item on the other servers too, so its not like you can get insanely expensive items for free by choosing another server :-)
It does appear that Lawolf prices are a bit higher than Aibatt, but since I play on Aibatt...

As for starting. I think it's a good idea to level up a Vagrant "the hard way" at least once. You don't need to know anything about the game except for a few selling caveats (see below). Don't put stat points into Intelligence, as Vagrants don't get spells anyway. Stats will be reset when you change into your class at lvl 15, so you have time until then to decide what you want to be. Stats will NOT be reset for the 2nd class change at lvl 60, so after lvl 15 you CAN mess up your char :-)

General rules for stats:
- Stamina: adds hitpoints, defense and "FP"" (which is used as "fuel" for melee skills).
- Strength: adds damage
- Dextetity: that's a bit of an obscure stat. It helps with hitting, avoiding hits, helps with attack speed, and raises the chance to do criticals.

"Sellling caveats":
1) don't sell anything, unless it's listed below. Not even if it looks like you're getting the deal of your life ("I'll give you 50K for that PD4 you just got, and I'll give you a +4 rose suit for free on top of that!")
2) don't sell anything, unless I'm listing it here
3) don't sell anything if you're not sure whether it's listed here
4) don't sell anything...
5) don't sell...
...
99) DO sell "gear" (armor pieces, weapons) that have "blue" labels to players or NPCs. Unless you find noobish players, it will be hard to get good money for it, though --- Vagrant gear drops a lot; you'll never get that many items off normal monsters later in the game. Keep the stuff you can use, or can use a level or two ahead, and NPC the rest.
100) If you happen to come across jewelry or other "wearables" that aren't armor pieces, keep them
101) do NOT sell "gear" that has green (dark green) labels --- these are rare items. Better stash them away if you can't use them until you know what they are worth.
102) do NOT buy items, not even from NPCs. If you play "the hard way" without taking express routes, you WILL get a lot of items from drops, and buying a lvl 5 junk suit is stupid because you'll soon replace it anyway. Buying a lvl 5 rare is ok, but you don't have the money...

As for selling gear to players: the "autoprice" suggested by the AFK shop is what players would pay at an NPC. NPCs pay 25% of that when you sell to them, so if you want to try selling to players, your price should be higher than 25% autoprice. As I said, selling random Vagrant "jumk" gear to players is difficult; I tend to say it's a waste of time.

The autoprice for the valuable stuff is WAY too low, so it can't be used as guideline for rares and dices. I've also been scratching the limit of the AFK shops --- they'll only let you enter prices up to 100 times the autprice, and sometimes that is too low... but don't get excited, I don't think you'll find stuff THAT valuable.

Cards... a lot of people seem to overvalue these; "level 1" cards drop left and right and are basically worth nothing. You can still stash them away or NPC them, of course. Lvl 2 and up = stash them for now.

Yes, I'm primarily talking about money here. In Flyff, money is actually worth something, so wasting money = bad. You can't really mess up a Vagrant (unless you raise intelligence), so the only thing that can really go bad is wasting money, giving away valuable items and stuff like that.

My highest char is lvl 52 now, and everything can be bought for money at least until then. For the really expensive stuff people also post messages such as "selling <superrare item> 30M add me" because the AFK shops won't let them go that high, but they still accept money instead of insisting on trading for another item (once you know prices, you can always try to ask them to trade for your item(s), of course, which they may or may not agree to do).

"Power Dice 4" and low level rare items are probably the most valuable stuff you can find at that stage, so don't waste them. Don't even use PD4 to upgrade stuff, since you'll be throwing away the gear a few hours later anyway.

There's a lot of "newbie scamming" going on, people trying to steal valuable items ("lend me your plug"), and occasionally you get low level rares at autoprice because people have no clue what they are selling. The easiest way to avoid being a "victim" of any kind is to avoid trading until you know things --- sell off your random junk gear, and keep the rest, basically.

When I started with Flyff a few months ago, hgih levels were hanging around newbie areas trying to buy PD4. I always told them I didn't have any, "secretly" stashing them away --- I figured that if they spend their time at such places trying to get these things, they must be worth something, and that I could probably get a lot more selling them through "proper channels", or that I might even want to use them myself (whatever they do; I didn't know that back then).

As for quest drops (the items that you have to collect to cash them in at the quest office), they do have some value, although it's not that exciting at this stage in the game. For these, know that "peakyrinds" are needed to make guilds, so they can be sold for a bit more than other low level quest drops. On the other hand, for people making a guild it's not a real problem to beef up a lvl 1 to get peakyrinds right away, without having to level up first.

Mushpoie really got to start up. PD4's sell for 25k ATM... Well, I'm just keeping my PD's 'till the prices go up. There are also not very many guilds on Mushpoie. But if you go playing on Mush, I could help you a bit. ;-)
