Yes it is official now, every kid in america will become a zombie and literally be on ms 24/7 lol. Grades will drop, kids will be telling each other to cc while walking from class to class, free markets in school.
lol ok i might be going a little extreme but still >_>
whats your thoughts on this. how are they going to make it work:eek: ?

It sounds like it's going to be almost the same maplestory as what people play now, just on a portable system. Everything will have to be downsized though because of the small screens.

Yes piggy the ds is connected if you have a wireless internet connection. And you coulld always have a pullup keyboard thing on the touch screen to type with..

i cant wait for this release, but i herd from one of the gaming sites that is a japanese only realse. ill still order it. wont it be hard to play ms everywhere? cause u ened to be near a router to connect. so your saying u ahve to siy next to your router and play, when u could just play on pc easier?
I'm getting a DS lite. No worries, my parents are rich, can afford practically anything. I'm not spoiled. xD Ms = pwns.

No this is coming out in america... at least that's what I heard. We'll probably have to wait untill early to mid next year, but we'll get it Im sure. The typing, use of the skills, and what not will most likely all be dealt with on the ts but the movement will probably be with the dpad and the attack and jump, pick up, and something else will probably be on the a,b,x,y buttons. Who knows what the shoulder buttons will do.

This has been official for a while now.
And things won't be downsized, the action will probably be on the top screen, and menus and stuff will be on the bottom one.
My question is, will it actually be online? And becasue you're using Wi-Fi, how many people can be online at once.

Well maple isn't that graphic intense, so the ds can handle it with ease. I wonder if you log in on the same accounts of if it will be a ds-only server.

Wow thats really gonna be easy to hack. Buy a gameshark and you are set pretty much -_-, i just hope they add better security or more monitering than they do in game (with so many hackers around). One thing I am a bit concerned about is the lack of keys you have to play with if you played ms on the ds. On my priest I use 12 keys just for spells and many more for other various items. Sure you could add a touchscreen for extra keys but that will be a bit annoying to train with especially if you have to do things quick. Still, I'm quite interested in this release.

I highly doubt people will be playing it at school. The school would have to have an unsecured wireless network with the correct ports open. If one kid did manage to figure out the WEP key(unlikely if its a 26 character code), he could sell it for MILLIONS... or a cookie or something.

Going back to the buttons issue... there is a way to substitute for the lack of buttons...
first method:
have it Metal Gear Solid style where you could hold the L/R buttons to sellect an item from a popup list or...
second method:
have it Fable Style where the L/R buttons changed the a/b/x/y buttons to new spells/actions...
the first method is probably more efficient in giving you a wide variety of actions but the second method makes for quicker use... using the touch screen to use spells and actions is too weak... first comes the # of usable actions and second comes to how fast...
Back to the screen usage, you could have gameplay all on the bottom and map, hp, mp and chat windows on top ^.^ like in the game Lost Magic... therefore you could still have a PQ session with handicaps... you would have to touch the screen to enter... the touchscreen easily substitutes for a mouse and not to mension the more it offers... such as more minigames (super happy bout that possibility)
the only issue we have left is how many users... the ds wifi is very effective for online games but you could experience great lag.... like some dial up users experience -_- and if sum1 wanted to, they could get a ton of freinds to follow you slowing your ability to play down... this also shows the answer to the server choices... there would HAVE to be a seperate server for DSers because if a DS went online into CH1 FM, theyed lag worse than Dial up users downloading music on limewire while playing around in the FM... >.< of coarse.. theyve prob already thought of that and made it to where you only SEE the lag... not experience it...
Final issue i feel like discussing... GameSharks >.< (sry for the huge post)
this REALLY presents a huge issue... you cant really make a game aware of Gamesharks... or it'd be done already... so youd have to have to have some sort of safety feature... dunno which but theyll think of something... the only game ive seen that is antigameshark was Phantasy Star Online... but for the PC... that got hacked to shreds... -_- there WILL be hacking in every game but hey... what can we say? all they can do is the best they CAN...
Really sorry for the huge post... (first one to be exact) but hey... it was good input was it not?
Happy Mapleing yall ^.^

don't be so sure. although the network is unsecure, if you bring a compatable router to school and hook it up, it'll definately work.

Wouldn't setting-up a router in school be somewhat...odd?

Bah why relase it on something like the ds maple story just requires sometthing with so many buttons as a key board you get oodles of skills and pots theat you need hotkeys for i know they have a pull up keyboard but it wuol be too slow i mean think about in maplestory your hands are going from one key to another( and yes i didnt read the thread) its just why realse it when i justlost my ds in chicago and how would you play it buy a cartrage? im more comterbale at the pc thankies

somehow the idea of ms on ds just isnt appealing. for one thing, no massive players maybe 1 to 4 through link, and another is that well there wont be updates like omega sector or cooler gear or 4th job advance and if theres a level system, lets say u spend 24/7 for about a month, u cant really show off like in the pc ms so Id say the ds ms would suck:(

This whole thing could be a failure, however, becasue no other DS game has had so many people on a server at once (tell me if I'm wrong on that). I haven't played my DS much, but the largest number of people in one DS-server is probably only 16.
MS, however, would require hundreds, if not thousands.
Of course, it may be that 4-6 people form a party, and connect to eachother to play (kinda like AC:WW?).
And all the 'cool kids' won't be say "BUYING XXX" becasue of all the connectivity issues, and also, noone I know, except three people, knew about MS.
Plus, don't schools have a 'No games at school policy'?

well on the site it says...
DS version of the game MapleStory that is currently under development, with the Korean release date set for late 2006 or early 2007.
it dont say ote about an american release

I dont think its going to be online guys sorry to say. I think theyl do the same as neopets did and a make a single player type game but based on the maplestory world.
But if they do make it online how will updates work, they could put all the data into the cart and unlock certain areas when they want like they do with the PC versions but if they make new areas for example, an OMS theme park, would they leave space on the cart to download it or provide an attatchment which all the new game content could be loaded onto?

That doesn't mean it's not going to come out in North America.
They're still making the game. They don't even have a set Asian release date, so why would they have an American one?

not to mention, i think they DID state that it was stated on E3. why would the news be released on an AMERICAN gaming expo?

I've never played maplestory, so this would be my chance to see how it is without downloading stuff on my cpu, well..IF it comes out in american. I'm lookind foward to it.
I don't think it'll be like online. Maybe you'll have something like if you buy MS DS then you get like a special item on the comp, but I don't think they can really make the DS the same as the comp. It's probably like just a one player RPG but you can connect with friends to get items or something. But I'll still get it lol.

I think its gonna be 1p but at the end you unlock an item of high price or even a skill
It would be cool to unlock a special attack like maple hero
Or they will give you a snail shell XD

Think of it this way, if you decide to be illegal and want to sell an account. The week it releases for DS and if you can log on with current accounts, you can sell your accounts for so much more.

I really hope we dont have to start new characters. That would REALLY suck. I mean, Im betting that we have to...but...wouldnt it be wonderful if we didnt *eyes twinkle*...sigh. Im wondering how the DS game is going to handle patches myself. Its not going to be like the real MS, it cant. And dear lord, I hope they close scania before this comes out...the last thing we need is more noob.s

right now gameshark has not been released for the nintendo ds but there is the actionreplay. AR is a stronger cheating/hacking devise than the gameshark but. People dont always have the hacks for a game for 1. 2 I have a AR for the PS2 and ive tryed going to online play with it but just to let u know it gets disabled during online play otherwise AR would never be able to exist without being sued by every gaming company.
